The Lautoka City Council is proud to announce a significant milestone in the city's journey towards unity, harmony, and sustainable development with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) Global Branch 11.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to promoting peace, community well-being, environmental stewardship, and sustainable development throughout Lautoka. Through this collaboration, both organizations will work together to implement peace-building initiatives, educational programs, youth engagement activities, environmental campaigns, and humanitarian projects aimed at fostering a stronger and more resilient community.
As highlighted by Acting CEO Mr. Taitusi Rasoki, Lautoka is embracing a historic new identity as a "City of Peace." This declaration reinforces the Council’s commitment to supporting the principles of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) and promoting a culture of peace at the grassroots level.
A key initiative under this partnership is the 2nd Peace Drawing Contest, which was officially launched on 30 June 2026 at the Lautoka City Council Chambers. The event brings together young people and members of the wider community to promote messages of peace, understanding, unity, and mutual respect through creativity and artistic expression.
The Lautoka City Council looks forward to working closely with HWPL Global Branch 11 to make Lautoka a shining example of peace, cooperation, and sustainable development for Fiji and the Pacific region.
