On Thursday, 02 April 2026 at 09:00 am, the United Kingdomโs Deputy Chief of the General Staff (DCGS), Lieutenant General Sir David Eastman, visited the Joint Task Force Command (JTFC) at Blackrock Camp in Nadi as part of his official visit to the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF).
Upon arrival, the UK DCGS was received by the Deputy Commander JTFC, Captain (Navy) Saula Tuilevuka, before proceeding to the Quarter Guard, an honour accorded to senior officers and distinguished representatives. This was followed by a traditional welcoming ceremony, after which Major Savenaca Degei delivered the JTFC brief.
Following the presentation, Lieutenant General Eastman conveyed his sincere appreciation for the warm reception. He also commended the RFMFโs longstanding contribution to international peacekeeping operations, noting the depth of operational experience and professionalism demonstrated by its personnel.
The visit concluded with a presentation of gifts, followed by a morning tea, marking a fitting close to the engagement and reflecting the strong and enduring partnership between the RFMF and the United Kingdom Armed Forces.

From Tuesday, 03 to Wednesday, 04 March 2026, Headquarters Joint Task Force Command (JTFC) od the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) deployed three teams to support postโTropical Cyclone Urmila response efforts across affected areas in Fiji. The deployments were conducted in line with JTFCโs role to provide coordinated and timely Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) support in aid of civil authorities.
The first team was deployed to Loloma Home in Nadi, where they assisted with debris clearance, a clean-up campaign, and the establishment of temporary drainage to mitigate further flooding risks and restore a safe environment for residents.
The second team was tasked to Votua Catholic School in Ba, which had been significantly impacted by flooding. Working alongside the National Fire Authority, the JTFC personnel carried out a comprehensive clean-up of classrooms, verandahs, and surrounding areas to facilitate the safe resumption of school operations.
The third team was deployed to the Central Division to support road clearance operations along the NausoriโNakelo corridor, improving accessibility and enabling the continued movement of emergency services and essential supplies.
These coordinated efforts underscore JTFCโs critical role in national HADR operations, enhancing inter-agency cooperation, restoring essential services, and supporting affected communities during times of need.

On Thursday, 12 February 2026, at 10:30 am, the Commander Joint Task Force Command (CJTFC), Brigadier General M.D. Gadai, carried out an inspection of the Joint Task Force Command (JTFC) vehicle fleet at Headquarters JTFC, Blackrock Camp.
The inspection was conducted to confirm that all vehicles remain fully operational and compliant with required standards. Maintaining a deployable level of capability is essential to ensuring that JTFC remains properly postured and ready to respond rapidly to any crisis or emergency.
The inspection focused on vehicle serviceability, documentation, safety equipment, and overall maintenance condition. This activity forms part of ongoing efforts to sustain high levels of operational readiness and ensure that all fleet assets remain mission capable at all times.

On Thursday, 05th of February 2026, the Commander Joint Task Force Command (JTFC), Brigadier General M. Gadai, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (CRFMF) at the Strategic Headquarters at Berkley Cresent in Suva for an official dialogue.
The courtesy call provided an opportunity for Brigadier General Gadai to engage with the Commander RFMF and seek further strategic guidance on the roles, responsibilities, and future direction of the Joint Task Force Command Headquarters based at Blackrock Camp in Nadi, which includes locally, regionally, and internationally.
Discussions focused on the JTFCโs core operational roles, which include Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR), Security and Stability Operations (SASO), and international United Nations Peacekeeping commitments. The dialogue also reaffirmed the importance of unity of command, inter-agency coordination, and readiness in responding to emerging security and humanitarian challenges.
Additionally, Brigadier General Gadai, in his capacity as Commander Joint Taskforce, took the opportunity to thank CRFMF personally for his outstanding leadership
and reiterate the Joint Task Force Commandโs full support and commitment to CRFMF's noble vision in advancing his divine strategic objectives, operational effectiveness, and regional and international obligations.
The meeting further reinforced the shared vision of strengthening joint military and civil operations, enhancing interoperability, and ensuring the RFMF remains a capable, professional, and trusted military force in service to Fiji, the region and the wider global community.

On Tuesday, 03 February 2026, the Military Chefโs Course was officially opened at the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Joint Task Force Command (JTFC), Blackrock Camp in Nadi. The course is generously sponsored by the British High Commission in Fiji and is expertly delivered by instructors from the British Armed Forces and the New Zealand Defence Force, reflecting the strong and enduring defence partnerships between Fiji, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand. The course will be conducted from 03 February to 06 March 2026.
The course comprises 25 participants drawn from across all RFMF units and was formally opened by the Deputy Joint Task Force Command, Captain (Navy) Saula Tuilevuka. In his address, Captain (Navy) Tuilevuka underscored the importance of fully maximising this valuable training opportunity and encouraged participants to effectively translate the knowledge and skills gained into professional practice. He also conveyed his sincere appreciation to the British High Commission in Fiji and to both defence partners for their continued support in capacity-building initiatives, and reaffirmed the RFMFโs commitment to strengthening future engagements and cooperation.

On Thursday, 23 January 2026, the Chief of Staff Land Force Command, Colonel (Col) Penioni Naliva, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander Joint Task Force (CJTF), Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Manoa Gadai, at the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Joint Task Force Command (JTFC), Blackrock Camp, Nadi.
Upon arrival, Col Naliva was accorded a Quarter Guard before proceeding to the JTFC Conference Room, where a brief was delivered to the visiting delegation. Following the briefing, Col Naliva conducted an office call with Brig Gen Gadai. Thereafter, the Headquarters Land Force Command (HQ LFC) team presented an exercise brief to the CJTF and his staff regarding the Bougainville Exercise scheduled for later this year.
The visit concluded with a traditional welcome and the presentation of gifts.

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), Joint Task Force Command (JTFC), farewelled the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) Attachรฉ, Major Albie Rothman, following the completion of his three-year secondment at the Joint Headquarters, JTFC Blackrock Camp.
On Wednesday, 07 January 2025, the Commander Joint Task Force (CJTF), Brigadier General Manoa Gadai, personally conveyed his appreciation to Major Rothman for his exemplary service and valuable contributions during his tenure at Blackrock. The CJTF also extended his sincere gratitude to Major Rothmanโs family for their unwavering support, with special acknowledgment of his wifeโs active involvement and support of the JTFC Wives and Mothers Club.
A formal farewell was conducted on Friday, 09 January 2025, during which Major Rothman formally introduced his successor, Major John Garton. The event also coincided with the inaugural visit to JTFC by the newly appointed NZDF Defence Adviser, Lieutenant Colonel Grant Arrowsmith. Upon arrival, Lieutenant Colonel Arrowsmith was received by the JTFC Chief of Staff, Lieutenant Colonel A. N. Toanikeve, and was accorded a Quarter Guard, followed by a traditional welcome ceremony and an official briefing at the conference room. The programme continued with a morning tea, a guided camp tour, and concluded with a light lunch at the Officersโ Mess.
Major Rothmanโs dedication was clearly demonstrated through his strong support for a range of key training initiatives conducted both in Fiji and New Zealand, including the Veiliutaki Framework, the Joint Military Appreciation Process, and the Joint Operations Planning Course, among others. He also played a significant role in exercise planning, particularly for Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief (HADR) activities such as Exercise Veivukei at JTFC, and provided valuable assistance to the National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO) during Exercise Longreach, which focused on multi-agency HADR response coordination involving both government and non-government stakeholders.
JTFC extends its sincere appreciation to Major Rothman for his outstanding service and contributions, and wishes him every success in his future endeavours.

The Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs, Hon Pio Tikoduadua, and the Commander Joint Task Force, Brigadier General Manoa Gadai, officially welcomed the UNAMI Draft Taskforce Papiloni last night at Blackrock Camp, Friday, 19 December 2025. This contingent marks a historic milestone as the last RFMF Contingent to conclude UN peacekeeping duties under the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), returning home for good after more than two decades of peacekeeping service.
The 156 RFMF TF Papiloni officers and soldiers arrived safely after a year of dedicated service under the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).
Led by their Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Timoci Naivalu, the contingent was formally received at the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Joint Task Force Headquarters, Blackrock Camp, by the Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs. In his welcome address, Hon. Tikoduadua commended the Contingent for their professionalism, discipline, and commitment to duty while contributing to stability and governance in Iraq. He further expressed his appreciation to the Commander RFMF and the Commander JTFC, along with their respective staff officers, for their steadfast leadership, dedication, and unwavering support in sustaining the RFMF Taskforce Papiloni throughout its deployment. He acknowledged that such leadership has been vital in ensuring the welfare, operational readiness, and morale of troops serving in challenging environments such as Iraq.
This homecoming carries deep significance for the RFMF, as it brings closure to Fijiโs longstanding involvement with UNAMI since the post-war deployment to Iraq in 2003. The Contingent will be officially welcomed by His Excellency the President in Suva on Monday, 22nd of December, marking the final chapter of the RFMF's Taskforce Papiloniโs service with UNAMI. Their legacy stands as a testament to Fijiโs unwavering contribution to global peace and security and the professionalism that has defined RFMF deployments abroad.
The homecoming was made even more special as families gathered at Blackrock Camp in Nadi to embrace their loved ones. Their sacrifice, resilience, and steadfast support throughout the deployment reflect the strong bond between our servicemen, servicewomen, and the communities they serve. The nation stands proud of their achievement and grateful for the strength shown by both the contingent and their families.
Welcome home, RFMF UNAMI Taskforce Papiloni 26, and thank you for your outstanding service, courage, and dedication to duty. Your chapter with UNAMI may close, but your legacy of UN peacekeeping excellence will forever endure. On Wednesday, 17 December 2025, the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Joint Task Force Command (JTFC) was honoured to host Ms. Caroline McKenna, U.S. Director for Oceania in the Office of the Secretary of War (OSW) for Policy, who oversees Department of Defenseโrelated engagements across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.
The visit formed part of the FijiโU.S. Strategic Dialogue Programme, providing the U.S. Strategic Dialogue delegation with an opportunity to gain insight into JTFCโs roles and responsibilities at the national, regional, and international levels.
The delegation was received by the Commanding Officer, Major Inoke Mateiviti and accorded a Quarter Guard, followed by an office call on the Commander Joint Task Force Command (CJTF), Brigadier M.D. Gadai. Proceedings continued with a comprehensive briefing in the JTFC Conference Room, delivered by Captain Emosi Rokotuitai, highlighting the history of the RFMF, its enduring commitment to Peace Support Operations, contributions to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief, and its role in stability operations both locally and regionally.
Following the briefing, the delegation was formally welcomed in a traditional ceremony before undertaking a guided tour of the camp. The tour included visits to the Medical Centre and the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Warehouse, part of the Pacific Humanitarian Warehousing Programme, which aims to strengthen regional resilience and disaster response capabilities across the Pacific.
Ms. McKenna conveyed her sincere appreciation for the warm hospitality and the honours extended to her and Mr. Dan McCormick, Country Director for Oceania in the Office of the Secretary of War.

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Joint Task Force Command (JTFC) held its End-of-Year Church Service on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, to farewell the outgoing RFMF Chaplain, Major Viliame Tunidau, and a thanksgiving Church Service for another successful year of achievements at Blackrock Camp in Nadi.
During RFMF Padre's final visit to Blackrock Camp, JTFC honoured MAJ Tunidau with a heartfelt church service followed by a traditional veitalaci vakanua, celebrating his dedicated service and spiritual guidance to the RFMF and our Nation as a whole.
The Commander Joint Task Force Command, Brigadier Manoa Gadai, delivered a warm farewell, expressing deep appreciation for MAJ Tunidauโs unwavering commitment, pastoral care, and outstanding contribution to the spiritual well-being of all personnel. Brigadier Gadai emphasized that placing God first in all endeavours remains central to the success, discipline, and unity of JTFC and RFMF as a whole.
The Church Service also served as a Thanksgiving for JTFC's accomplishments in 2025. Brigadier Gadai highlighted that JTFC had a highly successful year, achieving and surpassing its strategic and operational KPIs, a testament to the dedication, teamwork, and resilience of all staff. He reminded JTFC personnel that such milestones are achieved not only through hard work but also through faith and trust in Godโs guidance.
In response, the outgoing Chaplain expressed his gratitude to the RFMF leadership and JTFC personnel for their support, noting that his time in the RFMF had strengthened him both spiritually and professionally. He encouraged all to continue walking in faith, upholding Christian values, and seeking Godโs direction in every aspect of their duties.
The occasion concluded with Brigadier Gadai extending his heartfelt best wishes for a blessed Christmas season and a prosperous New Year, praying that Godโs guidance and protection continue to lead the Joint Task Force Command into 2026 and beyond.

With the High-Risk Weather Season now underway, the National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO) conducted a focused two-day training and awareness program for Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF)- Joint Task Force Command (JTFC) personnel from 05 to 06 November 2025. This initiative aimed to strengthen our operational readiness and reinforce JTFCโs ability to support national response efforts.
The program covered key provisions of the National Disaster Risk Management Act 2024, the Fiji Incident Management System (FIMS), and Civil-Military Coordination (CIVMIL COORD). Participants also gained practical insights into Initial Damage Assessment (IDA), Relief Intervention, and Distribution procedures. The training concluded with a hands-on Emergency Operations Centre and Relief Intervention exercise.
RFMF- JTFC personnel stand prepared to assist the Fiji NDMO whenever needed, remaining steadfast in fulfilling our mandated responsibilities as outlined in the Constitution.
