The National Women's Expo is organised every year by the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation to recognize the talents of women in Fiji.
The National Women’s Expo is an annual event that began last year (2014) and it is a initiative of the Bainimarama Government. The event is coordinated by the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation in partnership with government ministries, Non-Government Organisations, Corporate bodies, and various stakeholders to economically empower women, particularly rural women. The event is org
anised for women and it creates new marketing opportunities for women. Particularly the women in rural and maritime areas who have immense talents yet they require marketing opportunities. The National Women’s Expo 2015 is based on the theme, “Connecting Women to Markets, Making it Happen.” It will be held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva from the 14th to 16th of October this year. Entry is Free. The main objectives of the National Women’s Expo are as follows:
1. Encourage collective action to recognize, advance and celebrate rural women’s talents.
2. To connect rural women’s products to local and international markets.
3.To promote rural women in micro-entrepreneurships through business development opportunities.
4.To market quality products of rural women artisans to qualify for the “FIJIAN MADE” emblem & labeling.
5.To contribute to the development of rural women’s lives and their families- hence contribute to alleviating rural poverty.
