There are more than 70 million deaf people worldwide – more than 80% of them are from developing countries like Fiji. Collectively, they use more than 300 different sign languages.

We are the first Government to introduce sign language interpretation of our parliamentary sessions and other vital public advisories such as televised COVID-19 updates.

Today, we celebrate our sign language users and the diversity they bring to our Fiji.
