Taveuni Green Watch Officers, under the leadership of Sub Officer Sailia Vakarisea, proudly participated in the Drugs Awareness Week program at South Taveuni Primary School, where the team attended as the chief guest.
As part of the awareness program, firefighters conducted practical fire safety demonstrations for students and teachers.
The demonstrations included a fire drill showcasing safe operations when working at heights, as well as the correct methods of extinguishing oil fires using portable fire extinguishers and fire blankets.
The activity provided students with valuable knowledge on both drug awareness and fire safety, reinforcing the importance of making safe and responsible choices.
Through community engagement and public education, the National Fire Authority remains committed to building safer, more resilient communities across Fiji.

Physical fitness and health readiness are essential components of emergency response.
Today, officers of Taveuni Fire Station successfully completed their Required Fitness Level (RFL) Test, conducted by PTI Filimone Toga, DFON Ilisoni Qica, and Team Leader North Paramedics Mr. Atonio Marawa.
Prior to the fitness assessment, all officers underwent medical screening facilitated by the Taveuni Ministry of Health, ensuring they were fit and ready to undertake the test safely.
The RFL Test is a vital part of maintaining operational readiness, ensuring firefighters possess the strength, endurance, and resilience required to respond effectively when lives and property are at risk.
The National Fire Authority remains committed to building a healthy, capable, and professional workforce that is always ready to serve and protect our communities.

Firefighters at Tavua Fire Station recently undertook the Required Fitness Level (RFL) Test as part of the National Fire Authority's ongoing commitment to maintaining a fit, capable, and operationally ready workforce.
The RFL Test is a mandatory fitness assessment designed to evaluate the physical endurance, strength, and overall fitness of firefighters, ensuring they are prepared to respond effectively to emergencies and demanding rescue operations.
The fitness assessment is currently being conducted at fire stations throughout Fiji, with all operational firefighters required to participate. The exercise forms a key part of NFA's commitment to workplace health, safety, and operational excellence.
By maintaining the required fitness standards, firefighters are better equipped to protect lives, property, and communities during emergencies. The nationwide RFL programme also reinforces the importance of physical readiness in carrying out the challenging duties of firefighting and emergency response.
The National Fire Authority remains committed to ensuring its firefighters are always ready to serve the people of Fiji through continuous training, fitness assessments, and professional development.
