🌏🤝 Climate Change and Security in the Pacific

Today, 🇩🇪 Ambassador Dr. Andreas Prothmann attended the international conference “Climate Change as a Security Threat: Resilience and Adaptation in Small Island States”, organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in cooperation with the The University of the South Pacific in Suva.

The conference started today and brings together distinguished academics, researchers, policymakers and development partners from across the Pacific and beyond to explore how climate change increasingly impacts human security, governance, social stability and sustainable development in Small Island States.

For Pacific Island countries, climate change is not only an environmental challenge but also a security concern affecting communities, livelihoods, food security and future development pathways. Events such as this provide an important platform for exchanging ideas, sharing research and strengthening regional cooperation on resilience and adaptation.

Germany 🇩🇪 values these discussions and remains committed to supporting Pacific partners in addressing the impacts of climate change through dialogue, cooperation and collective action.
