Bilateral relations between South Africa and Fiji
South Africa and Fiji established formal diplomatic ties in 1994. The Republic of South Africa opened its High Commission in Suva, Fiji in 2006. The SA High Commission is accredited to the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and to the Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI), and is additionally responsible for Kiribati and Tuvalu. South Africa and Fiji signed a Memorandum of Understanding on General Cooperation in February 2019, in order to strengthen bilateral relations. It is expected that this MOU will give fresh impetus to the cordial ties between the two countries. The current Chargé d’Affaires of the High Commission is Mr Bingo Thamaga.
