Happy Constitution Day, Tonga!

The Cuban Embassy in Suva extends its warmest congratulations and best wishes to the Kingdom of Tonga and its people on the occasion of Constitution Day! 🇹🇴

Today, we celebrate ’s rich history, proud traditions and enduring constitutional heritage.
The Constitution currently in force in Tonga was ratified by King George Tupou I, on November 4, 1875.

Updates to the Marketing Authorization (Health Registration) for the drugs Hebermin and Heberprot-P and their corresponding entries in the Unified System in accordance with the requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This would allow both products to be marketed not only in the Russian Federation but also to be introduced into Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, and Belarus.
Heberprot-P is an innovative, one-of-a-kind, and first-in-class drug for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers and complex wound healing, while Hebermin is a biosimilar drug intended for the treatment of burns and minor wound healing.
Both medications are in demand by the healthcare systems of several countries, and it is expected that in the coming years they will be widely used in various countries.

The UNESCO Global Geoparks Council Unanimously Recommends the Inclusion of Viñales in the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network after reviewing the evaluation report on the Cuban nomination, which was based on the evaluation mission conducted from October 5 to 10, 2026, in this area of Pinar del Río Province.

The decision represents recognition of the technical quality of the nomination, the significance of Viñales’ geological heritage, and Cuba’s ability to integrate its conservation with scientific research, education, community participation, and sustainable development.

Among the key strengths highlighted during the evaluation were the excellence and consistency of the scientific documentation, the organization of the nomination dossier, the clarity of the management structure, and the strong cooperation among institutions and local stakeholders. The Council also recognized the breadth of educational programs, environmental protection measures, and the communities’ commitment to the conservation and enhancement of their heritage.

The Embassy of Cuba joined the Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Honourable Sakiasi Ditoka, at the graduation ceremony of the Junior Diplomacy Training Programme (JDTP), organized by United Nations Association of Fiji at the University of the South Pacific (USP).

The four-month programme successfully equipped 26 young people with foundational knowledge and practical skills in diplomacy, international relations, negotiation, and global citizenship.

Building on this long-standing commitment to youth development, the Embassy of Cuba previously hosted the Second Graduation Ceremony for 22 graduates in 2019, who successfully completed Level 2 (Intermediate) and Level 1 (Basic) Model United Nations (MUN) training. 🇫🇯🇨🇺

Congratulations to all the graduates, the event highlighted the vital importance of investing in young diplomats to strengthen diplomatic capabilities and expand global engagement.

We are pleased to announce that the call for applications is now open as part of the scholarship program offered by Cuba to the Pacific Islands to begin studies at the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in September 2027.

The Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in Cuba has graduated thousands of medical students from various countries, particularly across Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as from regions such as Africa, Asia, Oceania and the United States. The school is widely recognized for its focus on training doctors with a strong social vocation and a deep commitment to vulnerable communities.
