Major football tournaments often bring people together through passion and emotion. But studies in several countries have also shown a troubling reality: reports of domestic violence can increase after important matches, especially following a defeat.
For many women, the end of a game does not simply mean disappointment — it can mean fear, verbal abuse, psychological violence, or physical assault at home.
Sport itself is not the cause of violence. Violence is a choice.
But alcohol, frustration, social pressure, and aggressive behavior linked to competition can intensify existing abusive dynamics.
This issue deserves visibility because behind statistics are real lives, real families, and real victims.
Supporting women also means recognizing the hidden consequences that can exist around major sporting events and encouraging prevention, education, and access to help.

What does peace actually look like?
🔵 Women at the table.
🔵 Women taking up roles in leadership.
🔵 Women whose safety is non-negotiable.
Because you can’t build trust, inclusion, or reconciliation without them.
This day, we’re reminded that is only as strong as the women who shape it. 🕊️

We are entering an era where seeing is no longer believing.
Deepfake technology, which uses artificial intelligence to create or manipulate images, videos, or audio, can very realistically replace a person’s face or voice. While it can be used for entertainment or creative projects, it also has a harmful side, especially for women.
The Reality for Women
A large portion of deepfake content online is non-consensual and sexual in nature. It often targets women, including public figures, influencers, and private individuals.
This creates a disturbing reality:
Women can be digitally placed into explicit content without consent
Their identity can be used to fabricate statements, behaviors, or scandals
Fake content can spread faster than the truth and damage reputations permanently
Psychological Impact
The emotional and psychological consequences can be serious:
Anxiety and constant fear of being targeted or exposed
Loss of control over identity, since face and voice can be misused
Depression and emotional distress when content spreads publicly
Trauma and humiliation similar to real-life harassment but amplified online
Self-censorship, where women withdraw from digital spaces to protect themselves
For many victims, the experience feels like a form of digital violation that is difficult to escape because online content can remain accessible indefinitely.
Social Consequences
Beyond individual harm, deepfakes also affect society as a whole:
They reduce trust in online media, making it harder to know what is real
They reinforce gender-based harassment in digital environments
They can be used to discredit women in professional or political contexts
They contribute to a culture where women’s identities can be manipulated without consent
⚖️ Why This Matters
The core issue is not only technology but also consent, power, and accountability.
Without strong regulation, education, and platform responsibility, deepfakes can become a powerful tool for digital abuse.
What Can Be Done?
Stronger laws against non-consensual synthetic media
Faster removal systems on social platforms
Better detection tools for AI-generated content
Increased public awareness and digital literacy
Support for victims instead of blame
Technology should empower people, not strip them of their identity or dignity.
Deepfakes are not just a technical issue. They are a human issue, a gender issue, and a societal issue.
We need action before the harm becomes irreversible.
