And the €20,000 prize goes to… 🏆

The 2026 Daphne Caruana Galizia Prize for Journalism has been awarded to Giacomo Zandonini and Maite Vermeulen for “Cuffed, caged, cast away: This is Europe’s ‘innovative solution’ for unwanted migrants”, published by De Correspondent.

Their investigation examined the migration deal between Italy and Albania, uncovering a lack of transparency and raising concerns about human rights and the rule of law.

Named in honour of murdered Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, the prize recognises outstanding journalism defending the EU’s core values.

Think you know Europe? 🇪🇺 Time to put that to the test.

This one might seem obvious at first… but don’t lock in your answer too quickly. 🕵️‍♀️

Imagine a country where a familiar bakery snack has roots stretching back centuries 🥯, one of the EU’s key border agencies works from its capital 🏢, and deep underground, salt has been turned into chapels, sculptures and an entire hidden world. 🧂

Three clues. One EU country. And yes, we fully expect some very confident wrong answers. 😌

No cheating! 👀 Leave your guess below.

On today’s school timetable: question a Vice-President of the European Parliament.

Casual. 💅

Quite the way to celebrate World Students’ Day! 🇪🇺

Euroscola is back in Strasbourg today, bringing students together to debate democracy, fundamental rights and the issues that matter to them.

And you don’t need to be in the hemicycle to follow along!

🪩 Social plans that empty your wallet
🛒 Groceries that cost a fortune
🚊 Everyday expenses that never end

Difficulty level: trying to afford all of them. 💸

Sound familiar? The cost-of-living crisis and housing affordability were discussed by Members of the European Parliament during last week’s plenary in Strasbourg.
