The Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) are a British youth organisation sponsored by the Ministry of Defence(MOD) and the Royal Air Force(RAF).

The majority of the staff are volunteers, giving up their own personal time to ensure the best experience is given to the cadets. Cadets are given the opportunity to experience new things, gain new skills, and even gain new qualifications.

254 Aberdare Squadron has provided young people with life-changing experiences for many years. Cadets at this squadron are given opportunities of a lifetime, to try new things, meet new people and develop as an individual.

πŸ† BSA Silver Trophy Air Rifle Competition πŸ†

A huge congratulations to FS Kiff, FS King, Cpl Dennis and Cdt Breese, who recently represented our squadron in the prestigious BSA Silver Trophy Air Rifle Competition.

The competition attracted an impressive field of 92 teams from across the UK's cadet forces, including the Army Cadet Force, Sea Cadets, RAF Air Cadets and Combined Cadet Force. Competing against such a high standard of shooting talent, our team delivered an outstanding performance to finish in 18th place overall.

This achievement is the result of many hours of training, commitment and determination. Competitive shooting requires not only technical skill and precision but also concentration, discipline and the ability to perform under pressure. The team demonstrated all of these qualities throughout the competition and should be extremely proud of what they accomplished.

Representing the squadron at this level is a significant achievement in itself, and to place in the top 20 of such a large and competitive field is a testament to the hard work that FS Kiff, FS King, Cpl Dennis and Cdt Breese have put into developing their marksmanship skills.

We would also like to extend our congratulations to 2077, 372 and 1344 Squadrons, who also performed exceptionally well in the competition and helped showcase the high standards of shooting across the RAF Air Cadets.

Well done to all the cadets who took part, and a sincere thank you to the staff and volunteers who support and encourage our young people to achieve their best. We are incredibly proud of our team and look forward to seeing what they can achieve in future competitions.

A fantastic day at the No 1 Welsh Wing Inter Squadron Athletics competition held at Leckwith Stadium, Cardiff.

Our cadets represented the squadron brilliantly throughout the day, showing determination, teamwork and excellent sportsmanship in every event they entered. We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part and gave their all.

A special mention goes to Cadet Morgan, who delivered an outstanding performance to win the U16 Boys 800m race! πŸ… A superb achievement and thoroughly deserved.

Well done to all the cadets and staff involved in making it such a successful and enjoyable day.

πŸ…πŸ…MORE GOLD SUCCESS πŸ…πŸ…

Four cadets from 254 Sqn recently travelled to Pontyclun, joining cadets from 2077 Sqn and 372 Sqn to take part in this year’s BSA Silver Trophy Air Rifle Competition.

Although we are still awaiting the official results, the cadets have already achieved something fantastic. By applying the principles of marksmanship, all four cadets achieved the standard required to be awarded the Gold Shooting Badge.

This is a historic moment for the squadron as we have never previously had a Gold Shooting Badge, and now we are proud to have four.

Congratulations to the cadets who represented the squadron so well:
β€’ FS Kiff
β€’ FS King
β€’ Cpl Dennis
β€’ Cdt Bresse

Their dedication and commitment to training has truly paid off, and they have set a fantastic example for the rest of the squadron. We look forward to hearing how they placed once the official competition results are released.

Huge congratulations to Cadet Flight Sergeant Kiff!

FS Kiff has successfully completed and passed her Methods of Instruction (MOI) course, meaning she can now wear the coveted yellow lanyard and confidently plan and deliver engaging lessons to other cadets.

She also achieved her Instructor First Aid Award (Gold Badge), making her the first cadet at 254 Squadron to earn the Gold Badge! This means she is now able to teach and assess Essential (Blue) and Youth (Bronze) First Aid at the squadron and around the Wing, helping to build lifesaving skills across units.

These achievements were completed last week at RAF Cosford alongside other cadets from the Wales & West Region, with her certificates proudly presented by our Regional Commandant Group Captain Simon.

A huge thank you to the volunteer staff who ran the courses. Your time and effort make opportunities like this possible.

Well done, FS Kiff. Absolutely smashed it!
