Pressure washer anyone?
Once Benthyg is up and running you can hire this for such a tiny amount, it's not worth buying. And you don't have to find somewhere to store it until next year which means it's easy for you to get that patio done before the winter.
Keep your eyes peeled for the launch and other exciting tools and equipment you can hire from us, saving you money and saving the environment!

Coming soon!
Benthyg Y-Fenni (Library of Things, Abergavenny).
An exciting project to reduce waste, encourage re-use and save money is coming to your area soon. Thanks to funding from the Welsh Government and working n partnership with Monmouthshire Country Council, we will shortly be launching Benthyg Y-Fenni, your local ‘Library of Things’ (Benthyg is Welsh for lend and borrow).
The aim of Benthyg Y-Fenni is to allow people to:
• Borrow things they need but don’t need to own, at low cost, saving money and space in their homes
• Donate DIY items which are no longer needed, contributing to national waste reduction targets
• Meet to share knowledge and skills with each other, increasing community resilience
• We aim to make it as easy to borrow small DIY tools for those home jobs as it is to take a book out of the library
All items will be offered out for loan at very reasonable rates and for a period of up to a week.
By logging into the Benthyg website you wil be able to browse online and choose what items to borrow- ranging from wheelbarrows to pressure washer drills, angle grinders and much more. You can pick the item up from a building which situated in the grounds of the Abergavenny Community Centre.
The website address is https//benthyg-cymru.org
A local group has been set up to get Benthyg Y-Fenni going. They are busy taking delivery of the items, getting the venue ready with shelving and taking pictures of the wide range of tools and equipment and putting them on the website ready for the launch.
Once our Abergavenny Benthyg is open there will be lots of opportunities to get involved and help out – our volunteers will get all the training they will need. However, we are also looking for people who have the following skills:
• IT
• Communications and social media
• Repair skills

Your local 'library of things' Benthyg Y Fenni.
What is a Benthyg? Well it's a place where you can borrow the things you need but don't really want or need to buy - wheelbarrows, party crockery, tools even tents! Then when you've finished you give it back. Simple. Saving you money, space in your home and helping the environment and your community.
You'll also be able to donate DIY items you no longer need, they don't need to go to landfill and share your knowledge and skills.
You'll be able to browse and select on line and then just pop along and pick it up from our portacabin, in the grounds of the Community Centre.
We are always looking for volunteers too so if you would like to get involved please get in touch. We particularly need people who have IT, repair and admin skills. So why not get involved?
Look out for our opening announcement and tell your friends!
See you soon.

Opening soon! Your Benthyg - the library of things.
You no longer need to buy that pressure washer, wallpaper steamer, party crockery or other items that you're only going to use once or twice and then they sit unused, taking up space and costing you money. Instead, why not borrow them, use them and return them when you have finished?
It's as easy as taking out a book from the library. You can browse online and choose what you want to borrow.
Then pick it up when you need it. We're very local. You'll see our portacabin in the grounds of the Abergavenny Community Centre.
So why not start to borrow not buy and let's all do our bit for the environment, the community and, very importantly now, our bank balances!
