Aboyne Green Spaces would like to thank Raemoir Garden Centrefor donating compost and gravel for our planters in the village.

A small group of our volunteers were out on Monday repositioning some of the planters and starting the process of preparing them for summer planting.

We are delighted to have received from the Rotary Club of Aboyne and Upper Deeside a very generous donation of £600 to assist our Defibrillator project.

A small group of volunteers look after six defibrillators in Aboyne and the money will go towards repairs and replacement parts. Defibrillators along with CPR can play a vital role in saving the life of someone suffering a cardiac arrest.

Aboyne Community Trust is delighted to celebrate the fantastic achievement of two local young people, Louise Gray and Mairi Walmsley, who recently organised and ran a charity bake sale at the Aboyne-Dinnet Church as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award programme.

Through their hard work, planning, and enthusiasm, they raised an extraordinary £613.70 in support of the Aboyne Community Food initiative which is a project of Aboyne Community Trust.. This impressive total will help support local people and groups by improving access to good food and reducing waste.

The bake sale was a real community effort. Friends, neighbours, families, local shoppers, and many others contributed by baking, buying, spreading the word, and turning up on the day. Their support, combined with the energy and commitment of Louise and Mairi, made the event a resounding success and a shining example of community spirit in action.

Aboyne Community Trust is incredibly proud of Louise and Mairi for their initiative, generosity, and leadership. Their work shows how young people can make a real difference locally, and we wish them every success as they continue with their Duke of Edinburgh Award programme and all that lies ahead.

Malcolm Laing, the Trust's Chairman, accepted the generous donation at the Community Shed.

We recently received the following update from the owners of the Huntly Arms:-

Following completion of the summer time roof repairs, internal works in the bar area have been progressing. The granite wall between the bar area and reception area is, with considerable difficulty, being removed and new supporting steel beams installed.

Builders have been appointed to commence work on the bar and flats in the new year. This cannot be started until the bar wall removal work is finished.

Replacement wooden sash windows which many people have been asking about are being manufactured and will be installed when the main structural works are completed and there is no risk of them being damaged.

Hotel renovation will be next once bar is ready. The teams for this are ready.

The old shops are to be converted into premises to be let (possibly Airbnb units) with work commencing in 2026.
