We were delighted to install the new replacement bees in the Platinum Jubilee Pollinator Bed on Sycamore Corner yesterday.
The bed, complete with the striking stainless steel and brass bees, aims to highlight the importance of bees for biodiversity and pollination. The display is underplanted with a mixture of shrubs and wildlife-friendly pollinators, a few of which we also added yesterday.
The Town Council worked in partnership with the leaders of the 1st Chesham Bois Scout Group on this project, and we are thrilled with the refreshed display — especially seeing the bees gleam in this morning’s sunshine.

It was great to be invited back to Heatherton School yesterday to sow wildflowers with staff — including Headteacher Mrs Fletcher — and pupils in the school grounds.
What’s more, we were joined by Councillor Day for his first civic engagement since becoming Mayor on Monday.
It is always a joy to sow wildflowers and help reinforce the importance of increasing biodiversity and protecting our precious environment.

Councillor Day received the Chains of Office from the outgoing Mayor, Councillor Simon Woodhead, at the Annual Statutory Meeting of the Town Council held at Flint Barn Court last night.
Councillor Kelly Thornton was elected as Deputy Mayor.
In his farewell address, Councillor Woodhead reflected on his year in office and thanked fellow Councillors and Council staff for their continued dedication, support and commitment to the town. He also spoke of the great privilege it had been to serve as Mayor of Amersham.
In his speech, Councillor Day thanked Councillor Woodhead and Councillor Brown for their unwavering dedication before speaking of the honour of being elected Mayor and how much he is looking forward to the year ahead.
