Has your Community or Town Council made a real difference during the last 12 months? Has the Council supported your community in providing key services by engaging closely with its older and younger residents? Perhaps the Council has worked well in partnership with others and led on a strategic asset transfer project?
Communities continue to feel the impact of the Cost of Living crisis as well as continued lack of quality community transport services; councils have also undertaken important environmental actions to encourage biodiversity and undertaken legal responsibilities to improve green spaces - and across Wales, many Councils have led the way with innovative ideas, improved services, and meaningful help for those who require it most of all.
The One Voice Wales National Awards programme recognises the important community work that happens behind the scenes by our incredible Member Councils.
What are the Categories?
✔ There are 12 award categories in which to nominate your Council
✔ Each category has its own thematic criteria
✔ An independent assessment panel will carefully assess every application submitted against the weighted scoring criteria.
✔ Successful projects will be announced during our annual National Conference on Wednesday 1 July 2026.
Who can nominate?
Any Council Member or Officer can submit a nomination. The nominated Council must be an annual member of One Voice Wales. The nominator will need to provide information and evidence of the initiative or service the Council has delivered, how the initiative has supported and benefitted the community, how the project meets the specific Category Criteria.
How to apply:
Applications are quick and easy to complete via our new on-line Application Form available to member councils on our website: https://www.onevoicewales.wales/conferences-and-events/national-awards-event/
Get nominating right away! And you can nominate a Council for multiple awards! Submit your applications today and help us acknowledge the important work of Community and Town Councils across Wales. They deserve the attention and they could become examples of best practice, so let’s all celebrate innovation, resilience, and positive community spirit right across Wales.

LANSIO ADDUNED UN LLAIS CYMRU AR CWRTEISI A PARCH
Mae cwrteisi yn golygu bod yn foesol ac yn ystyriol o ran ymddygiad, lleferydd ac ysgrifennu, ac mae’r rhain yn elfennau sylfaenol i lwyddiant cynghorau yng Nghymru. Enghreifftiau o ffyrdd o ddangos parch yw gwrando a rhoi sylw i eraill, ystyried teimladau pobl eraill, dilyn protocolau a rheolau, dangos gwerthfawrogiad a diolch, a bod yn garedig wrth ein gilydd.
Cydnabyddir bod diwylliant sy’n seiliedig ar y gwerthoedd hanfodol hyn yn nodwedd o waith llawer o gynghorau, ond mae’n hysbys nad yw hyn yn wir ym mhob achos. Mae hyn yn amlwg drwy’r nifer uchel o gwynion a gyflwynir i Ombwdsmon Gwasanaethau Cyhoeddus Cymru, cwynion ffurfiol gan weithwyr i gynghorau, a’r amser gwaith a gollir oherwydd salwch sy’n gysylltiedig â straen yn y gweithle.
Mae’r adduned cwrteisi a pharch yn nodi nifer o ymrwymiadau pwysig sydd wedi’u cynllunio i greu amgylchedd sy’n hwyluso gweithio effeithiol, gan osgoi llawer o’r materion a all effeithio’n andwyol ar berfformiad cyffredinol cynghorau.
Mae’n hollbwysig bod ymrwymo’r cyngor i safonau uchel o ymddygiad drwy gwblhau a llofnodi’r adduned yn cael effaith barhaol. Argymhellir yn gryf y dylid rhoi lle amlwg i’r broses ar agenda’r cyngor, o bosibl gyda sylw yn y cyfryngau yn dilyn hynny. Awgrymir hefyd y gellid fframio a dangos yr adduned mewn ystafelloedd cyfarfod i atgoffa pawb o’r hyn y maent wedi ymrwymo iddo ar gyfer y presennol a’r dyfodol.
Rydym yn ymwybodol bod llawer o Gynghorau eisoes wedi llofnodi’r ymrwymiad gwreiddiol. Gan nad oedd pob adran yn berthnasol i Gynghorau yng Nghymru, mae Un Llais Cymru wedi gwneud rhai addasiadau bach i sicrhau bod y ddogfen gyfan bellach yn berthnasol. Byddem yn gwerthfawrogi pe bai Cynghorau yn ystyried mabwysiadu’r fersiwn newydd hon ar gyfer Cynghorau yng Nghymru, ac yn eich annog yn gryf i drafod, gwblhau a llofnodi’r adduned.

LAUNCH OF ONE VOICE WALES CIVILITY AND RESPECT PLEDGE
Civility means politeness and courtesy in behaviour, speech and in the written word and these are fundamental to the success of councils in Wales. Examples of ways in which you can show respect are by listening and paying attention to others, having consideration for other people’s feelings, following protocols and rules, showing appreciation and thanks and being kind to each other.
It is acknowledged that a culture built around these essential values is a feature of how many councils operate but it is well known that for some councils this is not the case which is exemplified through high numbers of complaints being submitted to the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales, grievances submitted to councils by employees and lost work time caused by workplace stress illnesses.
The Civility and Respect Pledge sets out a number of important commitments designed to create an environment conducive to effective working avoiding many of the issues that can adversely impact on the general performance of councils. It is vital that committing the council to high standards of behaviour by completing and signing the pledge has a lasting impact and it is strongly recommended that the process is given a prominent place on council agendas possibly followed up with media coverage.
We are aware that many Councils will already have signed up to the original pledge . As not all sections were relevant to Councils in Wales then One Voice Wales have made some slight amendments to ensure that the whole document is now relevant. We would appreciate if Councils would consider adopting this new Welsh Council version, and strongly encourage all Community and Town Councils in Wales to discuss, complete and sign the pledge.
