It’s been all about pumpkins this week 🎃
We have been…
🐿️ Washing the pumpkins. Talking about the different sized pumpkins and the difference in weight. 🧼🫧🎃
🐿 Making lanterns by scooping up the red lentils into the different faced bottles. 🏮🎃
🐿️ Orange play dough with the pumpkins. Lots of rolling, cutting and making spiders. 🕷️
🐿 Making hats with glue and stickers 🎩
🐿️ Picking up the pretend worms and other bugs with the tweezers from the soil and attaching the pegs to the pumpkin pictures, practicing our fine motors. 🕷️🪳🪱🎃🧙‍♀️
🐿️ Made autumn pictures with the leaves we collected on our autumn walk and autumn colour tissue paper.🍁🍂🍃☘️
🐿️ Hammering golf tees in the pumpkins. 🎃 ⛳️
🐿 Gloop inside the pumpkins with the pumpkin seeds. 🎃 It was very sticky and messy but they loved it!
🐿 Ker-plunk with dried spaghetti and bugs.

We all went for a Autumn walk this afternoon. 🍁🍂 We looked at the trees that were changing colours and the leaves that had fallen on the floor. We then went into the woods where we collected autumn leaves and put them in the basket. Another day we will be gluing and making pictures with the leaves. We also acted out the story ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’. All the children were superstars..Well done! 🌟

🐿️ Conker painting in trays. Taking about Autumn and where do the conkers and leaves come from
🐿 Washing the pumpkins of all different sizes, making them nice and clean
🐿️ Pumpkin snap
🐿 Making necklaces out of coloured straws
🐿️ Lots of wooden block play, looking at all kinds of buildings from around the world, designing and making their own creations
🐿 Magnetic ghosts- the ghost moved with the magnet 👻
🐿️ practicing our cutting in the play dough with knives and forks
So while playing and having lots of fun the children have been ‘learning and developing’ lots of skills! Weighing, creating, using imagination, finding out how things work, practicing hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills along with lots more skills every day 🙂

This week it’s World Space Week we have been… 🚀🪐🛰️
🐿️ painting with balloons to make planets
🐿 Small World space theme table
🐿️ We made a space station and a rocket in the garden with tables, tents and foil blankets
🐿 Making space pictures with different shapes
🐿️ Throwing aeroplanes and talked about whose aeroplane went the furthest ✈️

Highlights from the last couple of weeks-
🐿 We welcome Anne back from Musical Funtime - learning all about Autumn. 🍂 🎶🎼🎵
🐿️ Obstacle course in the garden-balancing along the beams, then going over obstacles at the end of the course and through the hoops.
The children also enjoyed dens made out of tables with material over the top.
🐿 Made a castle out of a cardboard box. The children glued and stuck a range of materials. The next day the children played with the castle with happyland figures. The children used their imagination and made up all kinds of stories. 🏰📦
🐿️ Matching the teddy bears to the correct coloured spot on the table. 🧸🔵🟢🟠🟡🟣🔴
🐿 Dressing up as a superhero and making superhero shields. 🦹‍♂️🦸‍♂️
🐿️ Using the weighing scales to weigh the different objects-discussing which is the heaviest and lightest. ⚖️
🐿 Lots of cutting to practice those fine motor skills✂️
🐿️ Gruffalo tuff tray- re telling the story of the Gruffalo. 📚🦉🐿️🐍🐭
🐿 We made our own tree house for our animals that live in a tree. 🌳🐿🦉
Wow.. lots of learning and fun we have all had. 🙂
