With yet another heatwave forecast this week, Ashtead Common is looking rather parched and dry, and the fire risk is extremely high.
You're very welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the Common, but BBQs, disposable barbecues, campfires, and any other naked flames are strictly prohibited. One small spark is all it takes to start a wildfire, putting wildlife, habitats, our precious veteran trees, visitors, and neighbouring properties at risk.
Please help us keep the Common safe by:
✅ Bringing a picnic instead of a BBQ
✅ Taking all litter home with you
✅ Disposing of ci******es safely
✅ Keeping an eye out for any signs of fire
If you see a fire, contact the Fire & Rescue Service immediately by calling 999 and notify our out-of-hours service on 01372 279488 so that the on-call ranger can attend and assist where needed.
Please do not report fires or other urgent issues via Facebook Messenger, as messages are not monitored out of hours.
Thank you for helping protect Ashtead Common during this hot, dry spell so that people, wildlife, and our neighbouring communities can continue to enjoy this special place safely.
