β€οΈ YESTERDAY WAS RESTART A HEART DAY β€οΈ
Every second counts. Every action matters.
Did you know that around 115,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests are reported to ambulance services across the UK every year?
When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, immediate action can make a life saving difference. CPR and early use of a defibrillator can increase the chances of survival by two to four times.
π Here at Axminster Fire Station, our co-responding crews have a vital role to play.
When a person suffers a cardiac arrest, our crews may be able to provide that crucial interim response while awaiting the arrival of South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust
By getting to the patient, starting CPR and using a defibrillator when appropriate, our crews can help deliver vital early interventions during those critical minutes before further medical assistance arrives.
β±οΈ Every minute matters. The South Western Ambulance Charity highlights that survival chances can decrease by around 10% for every minute that passes during cardiac arrest.
β€οΈ Would you know what to do?
π Call 999 and follow the call handlerβs instructions.
π Start CPR immediately.
β‘ Use an AED as soon as one is available.
πͺ Keep going until emergency responders take over or you are instructed otherwise.
You donβt need to be a medical professional to help save a life. Knowing CPR and having the confidence to act could make all the difference to someone you love.
