We are delighted to share that we are starting a new 'Fantasy Book Group' on the 2nd of November.

This fabulous weekly get together will focus on fantasy fiction with a monthly book and discussion but there will be creative collage as well.

The first book is 'Phantasma' ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ’€๐ŸŒน

When Ophelia's sister disappears, there is only one way to save her. Ophelia must enter Phantasma, a deadly contest inside a haunted mansion, and claim its prize - a single wish.

In a maze of twisting corridors and lavish ballrooms, Ophelia will face nine challenges, each more dangerous than the last. Just as fear threatens to overwhelm her, a mysterious stranger offers her a bargain.

Charming, arrogant and infuriatingly attractive, Blackwell claims he can guide her through the lethal trials ahead. Ophelia knows she shouldn't trust Blackwell.

Worse still, she feels a dark and irresistible attraction drawing them closer and closer. And in Phantasma, the only thing deadlier than losing the game is losing your heart.

Reading, chatting and crafting - the perfect mix!

It's nearly time for the Aylsham Town Read. ๐Ÿ“–

This special partnership event with our friends at The Book Hive is when we turn our wonderful town into the biggest book group of all!

Join them on Wednesday the 25th of November in the Friendship Hall for the sixth where they will be in discussion with author Jeremy Page discussing his freshly re-issued title 'New York to California', one manโ€™s poignant journey across the East of England.
๐Ÿ‘ฃ

Novelist, traveller, scriptwriter, photographer: Jeremy Page is a man with a broad view of wide horizons. But on approaching middle age, he experienced a calling to return to the place which he โ€“ and his ancestors โ€“ had called home.

Like the migratory eel, retracing a route back to somewhere it had once fought to leave, he decided to take a long, slow journey through a landscape both familiar but also separated by time and distance from his current life.

Starting in the tiny Lincolnshire fen-village of New York, Page sets off with an eccentric companion and a dog, following a similar path to his forebears โ€“ through fenland, along coastlines, into cities and across broads. His destination: another village with an improbable stateside name โ€“ California โ€“ on the East Norfolk coast.

Linus Baker is a case worker at the Department in Charge of Magical Youth. ๐Ÿ’ซ

He is given a curious and highly classified assignment: travel to Marsyas Island Orphanage, where six dangerous children reside - a gnome, a sprite, a wyvern, an unidentifiable green blob, a were-Pomeranian, and the Antichrist.

Linus must set aside his fears and determine whether or not they're likely to bring about the end of days...

The Public Lending Right (PLR) is a scheme that allows authors to be fairly paid for each loan when their work is borrowed through public libraries. The rate per loan is 11.76p (2023/2024) so authors can get anything from ยฃ1 to a maximum of ยฃ6,600.

The PLR figures are based on loans data collected from a sample of UK public libraries 1 July - 30 June every year. Norfolk Library and Information Service is a Public Lending Right sample library.
