Join us on Saturday 24 October for a Traditional Corn Dolly Making Workshop, led by Lu Towle, a third-generation straw worker. The art of making Corn Dollies is an endangered heritage craft, deeply rooted in rural life. Harvest tokens and trophies were traditionally made from the last sheaf of wheat to hold and protect the β€˜spirit of the harvest’ through the winter.

In this full-day workshop at Rowsley Village Hall, you will learn a variety of traditional corn dolly designs and techniques, creating beautiful keepsakes of the season to take home and treasure.

This event is suitable for everyone over the age of 18. No experience is needed and all tuition, materials and equipment will be provided. We have only 1 ticket left for this event, so please don't delay if you would like to join us!

Haddon Medieval Park is lucky to have a number of wonderful oak trees, including many that are hundreds of years old. They're looking especially beautiful now in their early autumn finery. A single oak tree can support more than 2,300 species, including birds, mammals, insects, fungi and lichens. More than 300 of those species are entirely dependent on native oaks for their survival. We are very proud of ours, and love watching them change throughout the seasons.
