Your hardworking Conservatives Cllr for Deddington, Hook Norton and the surrounding villages - working for you at Cherwell District Council all year round, not just at election time.

Brilliant from Kemi Badenoch - proud to have supported her campaign to be Leader of Conservatives.

Parking charges are never popular.

My position is that car parking charges in Banbury and Bicester have started to drive shoppers away from our town centres.

Other Cllrs disagree. They say that the revenue is needed to pay for local services and that car parking is a good source of income.

It’s important that residents have their say. Cherwell District Council isn’t listening, but we are.

Tell us what you think - click the link below to fill in our quick and easy survey.

From 28 September, Cherwell District Council is changing what it charges in its Banbury car parks. Free evening parking is ending, so there's now a £1.60 charge between 6pm and 8am. The first hour goes up to £1.60, and all-day parking rises to £7.50.

This will surprise no-one with any knowledge of who runs Cherwell District Council.

A £1.60 parking charge to park in Banbury and Bicester after 6pm may seem modest, but it will be a psychological barrier to some keen on driving into town of an evening.

Why go to Banbury or Bicester for a curry when you can park for free in Chippy or Brackley?

Suffice it to say, I will be putting another, fully costed amendment to the budget this year with sensible, pro-business measures in mind.

We must support our pubs and restaurants. Making their lives harder cannot be right:

Several Banbury residents and a town-centre shop have expressed outrage after Cherwell District Council increased parking charges at car parks in the town.

Keeping our town centres tidy is the most of public services.

Last year, North Oxfordshire Conservatives at Cherwell District Council tabled opposition budgets and motions to provide cash-boosts for town centre street-cleaning targeted at overnight cleans, weekend tidy-ups and civic set-pieces like Remembrance Sunday.

Good to see the Council do the right and invest a bit more in this area. More still to do:

Cherwell District Council has approved extra street cleaning in Banbury town centre over the weekend as part of a new trial.

📢 URGENT ACTION NEEDED, PLEASE: ONE CLICK TO SUPPORT SAVING CHERWELL VILLAGES FROM 13 MASSIVE WAREHOUSES 📢

Please consider supporting the Stoke Lyne Action Team's efforts to protect our open countryside from being destroyed by massive logistics warehouses.

The team is fighting an urgent battle to stop Baynards Green from being industrialised. This will affect villages in the Deddington ward, including Fritwell, Somerton and Souldern, together with Clifton, Deddington and the Astons.

In January, Cherwell District Council's Planning Committee rightly refused these warehouse schemes. But the developers appealed, and the administration at Cherwell District Council has chosen not to defend its own committee's decision.

Unless residents demonstrate a united front to Councillors and Council officers, our villages could be left undefended at the upcoming planning appeal.

Please consider acting now. Either option takes less than a minute of your time.

👉 OPTION 1: Send a pre-written email to Cherwell District Council.

The following link automatically addresses the email directly to the Council's key leadership figures, copying in the Stoke Lyne Action Team - just add your name and postcode at the bottom, where indicated

👉 OPTION 2: Sign the Open Letter.

Want to read the full case or sign the collective petition directly? Head to https://stokelyneactionteam.co.uk and log your support.

Let's stand together and protect our villages from the wrong development in the wrong place. Please share this post to get the word out.

Cross-party credit should go to Sean Woodcock MP for raising Oxfordshire County Council's proposed closure of the Henry Cornish Care Centre in Chipping Norton.

The facility has been well used by Deddington ward residents in Hook Norton Village, Wigginton Oxfordshire, Swerford & South Newington among others.

Please consider signing the public petition on Change.org here:

More here on the detail from the Oxford Mail:

https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/26538651.fury-proposed-closure-oxfordshire-care-home/

I have submitted a motion to Cherwell District Council's next meeting of Full Council to request that the administration reviews the likely effect on our villages and makes representations to Oxfordshire County Council to ensure that there is robust governance of such a sensitive decision.

Residents and local politicians have reacted with anger over the councils plans to close an Oxfordshire care home.
