Since 1992 Springboard has offered innovative learning and transformative opportunities for communities and particularly, young people, within a local and international platform. During their Springboard journey, young people create their own pathway, moving to the future with confidence and self-belief, as well as a renewed sense of belonging and responsibility for their community. The organisation is committed to promoting an appreciation of diversity, building capacity and contributing positively to a cohesive, peaceful and prosperous society.

To celebrate Good Relations Week, Springboard hosted a screening of our most recent documentary β€œTwo Sides to Every Wall”. The film was developed in collaboration with Northern Ireland Screen, directed by Cameron Turley, to capture the voices of young people living in interface areas, still experiencing the legacy of β€œThe Troubles”.

We were delighted to share the room with the exceptional young people involved, as well as their families / friends, and the many people who came to support the film including key stakeholders and funders.

The documentary follows their journey exploring different perspectives around divided societies; personal, local and international. It has been a transformational experience, and we're pleased to have been able to share a glimpse of it!

We're getting ready for this year's Good Relations Week events at Springboard, and we've been looking back at some highlights to get us even more excited...

Last year to celebrate Good Relations Week, over 70 young people from communities across Belfast attended Springboard's youth event "Common Ground". πŸͺ΄πŸ«‚

Common Ground created space for connection across communities with activities designed to spark meaningful conversations, including a mini Small Worlds booth, Good Relations Cinema and flower planting stations. Throughout, young people were encouraged to chat about their communities and how youth leadership helps shape a society rooted in mutual respect and shared purpose.🀝

Their feedback and thoughts speak volumes about the impact that these face to face conversations can have. πŸ’

Ahead of our documentary screening of "Two Sides to Every Wall" this Thursday, we've been looking back at the Wall2Wall journey and celebrating just how much this programme accomplished.

A stand out moment took place last Christmas. The group organised a free Christmas Market that brought over 800 people from both sides of the community together to enjoy festive activities.

For Good Relations Week young people from the Journeys programme will lead a roundtable discussion where they will share their experiences and perspectives with youth work practitioners to help inform future Good Relations programme delivery.

We look forward to sharing some insights from previous roundtables in the lead up to the event, so tune in!

Social action projects led by young people are always exciting events, and this year it was no different for our Journeys programme Fuse.

Powered by creativity, this group planned and developed a Mental Health Wellness day for their peers where they invited participants to use their artsy side to help express their emotions.

Painting canvases, friendship bracelet making and affirmation stations asked the groups to consider their feelings and those of their neighbours at the tables, sharing them through colour, written word and tokens of friendship. πŸ™Œ

A special table brought young people together to look back at their journeys on the programme, and acknowledge how far they have come in the short time they've known one another. Some of the chats around this table really brought the whole experience into perspective 😊

Finishing up with a high energy music quiz and some lunch, young people left feeling really refreshed and listened to by their peers. A huge well done to Fuse for their planning and delivery of this important event πŸ‘
