That was a day that was!
It all started off so well. A morning visit to Greggs for a coffee and a sausage roll, nice sunshine, and plans to head to the Parks Recreation Ground for the Fleet Arts Field Day, for some fire safety discussions, and maybe even talking to people about being on-call firefighters since we are in fact recruiting!
But the world had different ideas today. As we turned onto Park Road, the field in sight, the gate being opened for us and visions of a delicious ice cream while talking to our amazing community, but alas, we get a chime on our appliances mobile data terminal and we're off to Stanton-By-Bridge near Swarkstone for a large fire in woodland with a dozen other crews from around the county. After being mobilised at 11am, fighting some fire and working with teams from all over Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service, then finally being relieved from that incident by the wonderful crews from Ashbourne Fire Station and Ripley Fire Station and back to Belper and ready for the next job at just after 7pm.
So our apologies for the organisers of The Field Day (that looked like an amazing event as we passed) for our lack of attendance.
