Donate to Hertfordshire Libraries

It’s now easy to donate online to the library service by visiting our website. We are often offered donations of money by users who wish to show their appreciation for the service. Now you can also support the library service by donating online. Hertfordshire Libraries are a universal and free service to the community. Your decision to donate is an entirely voluntary one. We ask that you donate only as much as you feel comfortable with. You may want to consider either a one-off payment or more frequently.

100% of each donation goes directly to Hertfordshire Libraries and is used to maintain and enhance our services. https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/librarydonations

King Charles enjoys spending time reading before dinner and is particularly fond of biographies. Queen Camilla enjoys a wide variety of books, from the much-loved childhood classics to romantic fiction and contemporary literature.

If their reading habits have inspired you, why not visit Berkhamsted Library? We have a fantastic selection of biographies, including books about the Royal Family, as well as classic and contemporary fiction for every taste.

Happy Apple Day! Celebrated every year on 21st October, it was launched in 1990 by Common Ground, a charity based in Dorset, England. Apple Day was intended to be both a celebration and a demonstration of the variety we are in danger of losing, not simply in apples, but in the richness and diversity of landscape, ecology and culture too. It has also played a part in raising awareness in the provenance and traceability of food! 🍎🍏

Reading Friends will take place Wednesday 21st October from 11AM to 12PM. Our group is the perfect choice for anyone who likes to chat about books but would prefer to make their own decisions when it comes to what to read. We discuss a book we've read in the last month, how we felt about it, whether we would recommend it or whether to steer clear! The sessions are free to join, and you can come to as many or as few sessions as you like.
