Foster Birmingham We are Foster Birmingham, part of Birmingham Children's Trust, and Birmingham's Biggest Family! We are recruiting foster carers now - call 0121 303 7575!

We are dedicated to providing loving, stable and secure family homes for Birmingham children. We are thrilled you are here and considering fostering as foster carers really do have a profound and life-changing effect on the children and young people in their care. If you have the time in your life and love in your heart to help care for the most vulnerable children and young people in the city, we would love to hear from you! We understand that it can be confusing deciding which agency to foster with, but it is worth considering that Birmingham Children’s Trust are responsible for all of the children who come into care in Birmingham. This means that when a child needs a foster family in Birmingham, we will always look to our own in-house foster carers first and will only look further afield when we have explored every possible option of meeting the child's needs from our in-house carers first. This means that our foster carers are more likely to get regular placements within their preferred age range. Unlike many of the other agencies we are a non-profit organisation, committed to improving children’s lives.

This Black History Month, we're celebrating West Midlands born artist, musician and actor Goldie MBE.

Born Clifford Joseph Price, Goldie spent part of his childhood growing up in care.

Reflecting on the impact creativity had on his life, he said:
"Music and art well and truly saved my life really - the light switched on when I discovered art."

From those early experiences, Goldie went on to become one of the most influential figures in UK drum and bass, as well as a successful visual artist and actor.

His story highlights the value of ensuring children and young people have opportunities to explore their interests and express themselves.

Today, there are many children across Birmingham who need foster carers who can provide a safe, nurturing home and help them reach their potential.

If you've ever considered fostering we'd love to hear from you. Visit fosterbirmingham.co.uk, or call our friendly team today on 0121 303 7575.

From the son of foster carers to a foster carer himself.

Growing up, Aaron's family welcomed foster children into their home, giving him what he describes as "loads of siblings". Seeing the difference fostering made to children's lives inspired him to follow in his family's footsteps and become a foster carer himself.

In our latest blog, Aaron shares his experience of growing up in a fostering family and the experiences that inspired him to become a foster carer himself.

What is it really like growing up in a fostering family? Aaron reflects on his childhood, the bonds he's built and why fostering has been such a positive experience.

The Department for Education's national fostering recruitment campaign is now underway, helping to raise awareness of the need for more foster carers across England.

Too many people rule themselves out of fostering because of common misconceptions, without ever exploring whether it could be right for them.

We know that foster carers change lives through everyday acts of care, support and stability, helping children and young people feel safe, valued and able to thrive.

If you've ever thought about fostering, why not take the first step and find out more?

When their own children left home, Michelle and Martin found themselves asking what came next.

That question led them to fostering, and since then they've welcomed 25 children into their home.

Whether your children have grown up and flown the nest, you have a spare bedroom, or you simply feel you have more to give, fostering could be the start of your next chapter.

Today marks the start of Children of Foster Carers Week.

The children and young people in fostering families play an important role in helping children in care feel welcome, safe and supported. Through their kindness, patience and understanding, they help create the nurturing family environments that children need to thrive.

While their contribution is valued all year round, Children of Foster Carers' Week is an opportunity to recognise and thank them for the difference they make every day.

A huge thank you to all the children and young people in our fostering families across Birmingham.

As Kinship Care Week 2026 comes to an end, we'd like to say a heartfelt thank you to all of Birmingham's kinship carers.

Whether you're a grandparent, aunt, uncle, sibling, family friend or special guardian, thank you for stepping up to provide love, stability and support to children and young people when they need it most.

Your resilience, commitment and dedication help children remain connected to their families, communities and identities, while giving them the opportunity to thrive.

From all of us at Birmingham Children's Trust, thank you for everything you do.

This Black History Month, we're celebrating Birmingham-born poet, writer and activist Benjamin Zephaniah.

“Every child deserves a place where they can dare to dream.”

Born right here in Handsworth, the late, great Benjamin Zephaniah spent his life championing young people, equality, and the power of love. In his famous novel Refugee Boy, he showed the world the incredible impact of the British foster care system through the eyes of Alem; a young person needing safety, warmth, and a place to call home.

Fostering isn't just about providing a roof; it’s about giving a child a sanctuary to grow, heal, and find their voice. Right now, in Birmingham, there are local children waiting for that exact same chance.

Could your home be the sanctuary a local child is waiting for?
