🙌🙌Good News Story 🙌🙌

Despite having 4 years of professional experience, our young person joined the BESP project to get help finding a job as he was becoming frustrated following several rejections.

At the point of registering with BESP, our young person had been unemployed for 1 month and recently re-located to Birmingham from Manchester. He was looking for a career change having worked in housing for 4 years but was unsure what he wanted to do or how to go about it.

Although proactively applying for jobs, several application rejections left our young person feeling frustrated - he decided to seek support to secure his next job and get help with the application process and update his CV.

Through one to one support our young person was able to enhance his CV and now feels better equipped to apply for jobs and now has a pending job offer.

“I’ve increased in confidence and understanding when applying for jobs. I now have a strong base for understanding the application process whereas previously, I was applying for jobs in an unthoughtful and lazy way. With what Wray has shared with me, I feel as though I can now positively affect the outcome of future applications and I’ve had more offers for interviews and attended a training course since engaging with BESP. This sense of empowerment has increased my mental wellbeing and strengthened my options for employment.”

🤩🤩Good News Story 🤩🤩

After registering with BESP, our young person started employment at Father Hodson’s Tabor Living as a Care Assistant after overcoming several barriers.

Our young person faced multiple barriers whilst trying to find work and once these were resolved through joint working with DWP and Birmingham Youth Hub, we were able to support the young person with looking for work.

We worked on updating the CV, and how to include previous experience and qualifications and tailored it to her chosen field. The CV was then used to apply for various positions in the care field. The young person was supported with interview preparation and she successfully passed the interview and secured employment with Father Hodson’s Tabor Living.

Congratulations! 🥳

“Thank you Youth Hub, this includes both BCC and DWP teams for all the support offered so far. I’m very happy to have someone I can reach out to when the need arises.”
