🎉 A Huge Thank You to Our Sutton Fun Run Team! 🎉

A massive well done to everyone who took part in yesterday's Royal Sutton Fun Run , completing an incredible 8.5 miles! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️You were all amazing!

Together, they raised over £2,000 for Acacia, which is a fantastic achievement 💥👊. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and donated so far.

Every year, the event itself is so inspiring - over 7,000 people taking part and raising money for a wide range of worthy causes. A big shout out to everyone who came together to make a difference, whether you ran in the event or came along to cheer people on - it's an event and community we are proud to be a part of ❤️.

Today, on the first day of National Volunteers' Week, we want to say a huge thank you to each and every one of you. 💐

At Acacia, we are incredibly grateful for the time, compassion, skills and dedication you give so generously. No matter what your role is, you are making a real difference to the mums, babies and families we support. 💜

Quite simply, we couldn't do what we do without you. The hope, encouragement and support that Acacia is able to offer every day is only possible because of people like you who choose to give your time and care to others. 🌈

Thank you for everything you do, for every conversation, every act of kindness and every contribution you make. You are a valued part of the Acacia family, and this week we celebrate you. 🎉👏💜

Behind every fundraiser is a story - and this one is deeply personal.

Meet Christina, who is taking part in the Royal Sutton Fun Run this Sunday...

"There are two sides to my story behind my support for this amazing charity.

The first is my own story where I suffered with postnatal depression and was very lucky to receive help from Acacia Family Support, who saved my life. ��

I know that I am very lucky and privileged to have received such wonderful care and support from this charity.

This brings me to the other side of the story of my support...

This kind of care is not available everywhere, and, in order to receive the support I got, there are fundraisers, supporters and volunteers that work their arses off so that more people can get the help they need…and believe me when I say that it is desperately needed more than you might think.��

I have now lost 3 friends to this kind of illness, be it post-natal depression or post-partum psychosis. I have named two of them on this page. (Just Giving page link below) ��

My strong, angry feeling was,

‘It wasn’t supposed to happen to her.’

I still struggle with that attitude to this day. The truth of the matter is that it can happen to absolutely anyone, and it does. Nasty or nice, famous or not, nobody is immune.

That’s why this run means so much.

Acacia provides life-changing support for families facing pre- and post-natal depression, offering services for mums, dads, and young parents across Birmingham — with hopes of reaching even more families nationally in the future.

Someone else fundraised so I could receive help. Now it’s my turn to give back."

Jenny was with us right at the very beginning of Acacia’s journey over 20 years ago as one of its early volunteers — with Matthew and Steph by her side as her “little helpers” too 🥹

Over the years, they’ve witnessed first-hand the life changing difference Acacia has made to so many families. That’s why they’ve decided to take on the Sutton Fun Run together — helping ensure Acacia can continue supporting those who need it most.
