On this day in 1805, the Royal Navy defeated the combined forces of France and Spain at Trafalgar.

Today we are remembering Admiral Lord Nelson and the brave sailors who fought for their country.

Trafalgar Day is a time to reflect on the courage, dedication and naval traditions that continue to inspire Sea Cadets today.

Lest we forget!

Supporters - it’s that time of the year again! ⏰ 🍊

We are now collecting chocolate oranges as part of the Team Chocolate Orange 2026 appeal!

They are currently 95p at Tesco with your Clubcard!!

As usual, we will be handing out the oranges to emergency services personnel on the run up to Christmas! We want to collect as many as possible to hand out more than we have before!

Donations can be dropped off at the unit on our parade evenings or cash donations can be made which will be used to purchase oranges on your behalf.

Please call the unit number on the gate to gain access to the barracks / arrange someone to meet you!

Today marks the start of the first ever National Cadets’ Week! 🙌⚓

This week, alongside cadet units across the UK and across the full spectrum of the tri-services, we’re celebrating the thousands of cadets and adult volunteers who give their time, develop new skills and make a positive contribution to their local communities - including right here in Blackburn and Darwen!

At Blackburn Sea Cadets, we give young people aged 10 and over the opportunity to build confidence, resilience, teamwork and important life skills, while taking part in a huge range of nautical activities and working towards recognised qualifications.

From sailing, boating and water sports to first aid, navigation, engineering, music, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and much more, there’s plenty to get involved with!

For those aged 13+, our Royal Marines Cadets also offer the chance to develop fieldcraft, leadership, teamwork and outdoor skills.

And it isn’t just for young people.. our unit is supported by a fantastic team of adult volunteers who help make everything we do possible. If you’d like to give something back, learn new skills or help inspire the next generation, we’d love to hear from you too!
