PSA Testing Event this Thursday at Bodmin Community Fire Station
6:15pm - 8:45pm

What:
A PSA (prostate-specific antigen) test is a simple blood test that measures the level of prostate-specific antigenโ€”a protein produced by normal and cancerous cells in the prostate glandโ€”to help evaluate prostate health and detect potential issues like enlargement, inflammation, or cancer. Plus other tests available ๐Ÿ‘€

Why:
Roughly 6% of UK men aged 45 and older receive a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test annually, reflecting a targeted diagnostic approach rather than a universal national screening program. Is this enoughโ€ฆ No

How:
It costs ยฃ26, the tests take minutes to do and you can easily sign up here

๐Ÿ† A huge congratulations to our very own Luke Hodge! ๐Ÿ†

Today, we are incredibly proud to celebrate Luke, who has been named West Countryโ€™s 2026 Pride of Britain Fundraiser of the Year. ๐ŸŽ‰

For the past 20 years, Luke has dedicated his time, energy and passion to organising Alstock Festival in memory of his late father, raising an extraordinary ยฃ100,000+ for local charities along the way.

However, Lukeโ€™s contribution goes far beyond fundraising. He is a truly caring, selfless and generous individual who is always willing to give his time and support to others. Whether through his work, his charity efforts or simply being there for those who need him, Luke consistently makes a difference asking for nothing in return.

This year, Luke made the incredibly difficult decision to bring Alstock Festival to an end as he takes on increased caring responsibilities at home. While the festival may have come to a close, the incredible legacy he has created, and the lives he has touched, will live on.

Luke received his award today surrounded by his family, colleagues from the fire and rescue service, and fellow Alstock organisers.

Luke, you are a truly deserving winner. Your kindness, generosity and dedication have made an extraordinary difference to so many people, and this award is a wonderful recognition of everything you have achieved.

Congratulations Luke, from all at 7.1 ๐Ÿ†

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Tomorrow, three firefighters from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service will take on the Terry Farrell Patriot Day Memorial Stair Climb at Truist Park in Atlanta.

Theyโ€™ll climb 110 floors โ€“ more than 2,000 steps โ€“ in full firefighting kit, carrying the name and photograph of one of the 343 FDNY firefighters who lost their lives on 11 September 2001.

The event has a 25-year history, bringing firefighters together to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. This yearโ€™s climb is especially significant, marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

Our three Cornwall firefighters are among several hundred UK & Ireland firefighters from 48 fire and rescue services taking part.

๐Ÿšจ Drill night ๐Ÿš’

This evening, our crews carried out realistic operational training at Western Counties Roofing Bodmin.

We would like to thank Western Counties Roofing for providing access to their premises and supporting our ongoing training.

Training at different locations helps our crews experience unfamiliar environments, strengthen teamwork and decision making, and stay prepared for the variety of incidents we may face across our communities.

Thanks again Western Counties Roofing ๐Ÿซก๐Ÿš’

32 years have passed.

Today, we remember our friend and colleague, Michael โ€œSonnyโ€ Liston.

Sonny served at Bodmin and was taken from us on 03.09.1994 following a barn fire.

Always in our memory.

AUGUST โ€ฆ..

๐Ÿš’ WHAT. A. MONTH. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

107 fire calls !
One hundred and seven in 31 days!

From Launceston to Lands end.
From the fun of station open day and Bodmin carnival, to a seriously busy month of wildfires, vehicle fires, bonfires, animal rescues and standby duties supporting other stations attending local incidents.

We even managed to watch the eclipse while dampening down the remains of a field fire. ๐ŸŒ˜๐Ÿ”ฅ

A special thank you to the partners, families, employers and loved ones at home who have supported us through an exceptionally busy month. With 107 calls, there have inevitably been cancelled plans, missed events, late nights and plenty of interrupted evenings. Your patience, understanding and continued support are hugely appreciated and never taken for granted. โค๏ธ

107 calls. Countless hours. One incredible station.

A job well done to all CFRS colleagues, itโ€™s been one to remember. ๐Ÿš’

๐Ÿƒ ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ Congratulations St Austell Community Fire Station Green watch !!
What an achievement ๐Ÿ‘.
Still time to donate for an amazing charity.

FINISHED! At 14:30 today Green Watch completed their amazing journey of running along the coast path from Bude Community Fire Station to St. Just Community Fire Station (thank you for such an awesome welcome!)

What a team and a huge thank you to all our family, friends and colleagues that have supported and made this mission for charity a success, whether it was running with us, baking or making food, Livingstone Electrics Ltd for helping us out with equipment and essentials, or supporting behind the scenes. And thank you to all the wonderful people who donated, each and every one of you is helping support children with cancer in Cornwall โ™ฅ๏ธ

There's still time to donate here, over 200km of absolutely grueling coast path run, over 30,000 ft of climb, bumps, blisters, bruises, all worth it!
