An extract from this week's Bognor Observer column from the Mayor of Bognor Regis...
"Starting this week with positive news from the Bognor Regis Town Centre Action Group (BRTCAG), who working alongside Bognor Regis Town Council, will be introducing new ‘No Cycling’ signs are due to be installed along the pedestrianised section of London Road.
Funded by BRTCAG, the initiative aims to create a safer, more welcoming Town Centre for residents, businesses and visitors. The signage follows concerns about cyclists travelling through the busy pedestrianised area, particularly the risks to pedestrians with mobility difficulties or visual impairments. The signs will reinforce existing restrictions, encouraging cyclists to dismount and helping Sussex Police enforce them more effectively.
With half term just around the corner, there’s plenty of Halloween fun to enjoy in Bognor Regis! From 27th to 31st October, Bognor Regis Museum will host its free Halloween Ghost Hunt, between 10am and 4pm daily. Children aged up to 12 can search the displays for hidden ghosts to earn a treat, while discovering more about the town’s rich heritage.
Wildforest Falls Adventure Golf in Hotham Park is adding a spooky twist to its 18-hole course, complete with pumpkins, skeletons and eerie surprises. Glowing lights create an enchanting atmosphere as evening approaches, and a special package includes a round of golf, a burger meal and a drink. Visitors can also enjoy the Halloween train rides in Hotham Park from 26th to 31st October, with daytime and evening rides available.
The Resourceful Community Scrapstore will host free Halloween-themed ‘Make and Take’ sessions on Thursday 29th October. Children can create their own wreaths using recycled, reused and donated surplus materials. Supported by a Bognor Regis Town Council grant, the sessions include a healthy snack. Booking is available at www.resourceful-scraps.org.uk.
Finally, on Saturday 31st October, the Town Council will present its free Halloween laser show, ‘Haunted Horizons’, on the Promenade. Delivered by Showmen Events Group, performances will take place every 20 minutes between 6pm and 8.30pm, featuring spectacular lasers, visual effects and music. The evening promises to add a vibrant touch to the Town’s Halloween festivities, giving residents and visitors plenty of chances to enjoy the show".
