East Hampshire District Council is transferring the freehold of the following to Whitehill Town Council:

Forest Community Centre
Whitehill Village Hall
Jubilee Park
Coniston Road Play Site
Fir Grove Play Area
Public open space at Alpine Road
Hollybrook Park Play Site
Land at Ennerdale Road
Cycle way adjoining the Forest Centre

The Town Council Executive Committee most recently agreed to proceed in principle on 3rd Sep. The final decision is scheduled to be made at our Full Council meeting in December 2026.

Cllr Andy Tree (Leader of Whitehill Town Council) said: "I was very proactive in expressing serious interest in the Community Asset Transfer policy and ensuring this was part of our formally agreed strategic plan. I thank our Town Clerk & General Manager Lorraine for her ongoing work on this.

This removes the risk that a larger more remote council such as one eventually created under future local government reorganisation could control and potentially sell the buildings and land!

There is no purchase cost to local council tax payers, as it is a transfer not a purchase for money. The key 'value' is the social value we can continue to deliver.

The Forest Community Centre will continue to be leased to Whitehill & Bordon Community Association and Whitehill Village Hall will continue to be run by its Trustees. We value and support these volunteers and staff.

The Town Council has the resources within its budget to manage the additional open spaces and playparks and I am very pleased we are delivering."
