With the mornings turning misty and autumn definitely making itself at home, there's a great mix of events happening across BCP and beyond this week. 🍂🌫️
🏃 The headline event this weekend is Run Bournemouth, taking place across Bournemouth seafront on Saturday and Sunday (10-11 October). Whether you're taking part or cheering from the sidelines, expect plenty of atmosphere as runners take on a variety of distances along the coast.
🏅 Running fans are spoilt for choice this weekend, with the Hampshire Cross-Country League coming to Kings Park on Saturday from 11.15am-3pm, while the Run Bournemouth festivities continue throughout the weekend.
🎬 Film lovers should also take note of the Bournemouth International Film Festival, running on Friday and Saturday (9-10 October) and celebrating independent filmmaking from around the world.
🌿 Looking a little further afield, Planet Wimborne Green Festival begins on Saturday (10 October), bringing together talks, workshops, a green trail, craft activities and sustainability-focused events throughout the week.
🧱 For families and model enthusiasts, the Christchurch & Kinson Model Railway Exhibition takes place on Saturday from 10am-4pm at St Peter's Catholic Comprehensive School, featuring more than 30 layouts and traders.
🍄 Nature lovers can head to Brownsea Island for Fabulous Fungi, a guided exploration of the island's fascinating fungi and woodland habitats from 10am-1pm.
🚶 Saturday afternoon sees the Bournemouth Walk for Freedom return to Bournemouth Town Square from 1pm-3.30pm, raising awareness of modern slavery and human trafficking.
🌙 As the mist rolls in on Friday evening, Upton Country Park's Nocturnal Discovery Walk feels particularly fitting. Running from 6-8pm, the guided walk offers a chance to discover bats, moths and other night-time wildlife with the Dorset Bat Group.
🎵 Looking for something a little more relaxing? Sunday Sounds with Jax Hall takes place at The Hermitage Hotel on Sunday from 12.30-4pm, combining live music and lunch just moments from the seafront.
💡 On Wednesday (14 October), the latest Poole Roadshow will be outside NatWest on Poole High Street from 10am-3pm, offering free energy advice and health checks.
🕯️ Then on Thursday (15 October), SPRING's Wave of Light takes place in Poole Park from 6.30-7.30pm, providing an opportunity for remembrance and reflection during Baby Loss Awareness Week.
As always, this is just a selection of what's happening locally, and not all events are organised by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council. Have a great week and enjoy those atmospheric autumn mornings! 🍁✨
