🎃 Today (Friday 23rd) from 3pm until 4pm, we've got a pumpkin carving demonstration in the library! The orange canvas awaits... come along and see what spoooky picture emerges! 🎃👻

The Winton Library jack-o-lantern will be on display in the library afterwards. Unless it goes quite badly wrong, in which case this post will be discreetly deleted... 🙃😂

Unfortunately Wriggle and Rhyme won't be running this Friday 23 October, due to staff illness 🙁 But babies and their grown-ups are always welcome to come along to the library and do their own wriggling! 🐛
Why not use it as a chance to check out our Toy Library? 🧸🧩 We have a catalogue of fun toys that can be played with here, or borrow up to 3 toys to play with at home!

Just turn up between 10.30 and 12.30pm; we'll provide the pebbles and the paints! The theme is Halloween, but you can really paint anything you want on your pebble. 🎃🐱👻🐢

Next Monday is our library's 119th Birthday! 🥳 We don't have any plans yet (we're closed on Mondays anyway) but we've been digging in the Bournemouth History and Heritage archives and found this photo: Bournemouth Christmas parade, 1954. Should we recreate it with our Mellow Yellow Cello?? 🟡 We hear Broadstone Library have a beautiful double bass they might lend us! 😆🎻

This week at Winton Library , we're inviting you to get crafty! Our always-fun Pebble Painting session returns on Saturday, and we'll have colouring sheets available throughout the week (some of them are a little bit spooky!). 🖍️✏️ On Friday we've got a Pumpkin Carving demonstration in the afternoon: Holly is going to attempt to make a Gruffalo pumpkin for the library! 🎃 Come along to see how she does it 👀 or just enjoy the result, which will be displayed afterwards in the library, unless something goes terribly wrong (😅).

There's been a colourful new addition to our Children's Library! ❄️🌞🌿🍁
Thanks to funding we received last year from the Community Infrastructure Levy fund, we've got a lovely new rug, with a design that celebrates the seasons. Can you spot the Spring Lamb, the Winter Woolly Hat, and a Summer Ice Lolly? 🍧🐑

If the weather is lovely and sunny, we'll hold this session outdoors; if not, it'll be inside the library. No need to bring anything: just turn up any time between 10.30 and 12.30pm. We'll provide pebbles and paints!

Today is Bookshop Day! 📚📖📚📖💸
You may have noticed that we are a library, not a book shop. But maybe you've got a favourite library book, and you wish you didn't have to return it? 👀 Or you've discovered a library book that you think your sister would love, and it's her birthday soon? 🎁 Bookshops can help you with that 😉 And it is the National Year of Reading, after all!

BOOKS ARE MY BAG is a nationwide campaign to celebrate bookshops. This collaboration between publishers, bookshops and authors is the biggest ever promotion of bookshops.
