This is a subject that I do a lot of work with my clients on.
Have you ever spent hours worrying about something that never happened?
Or convinced yourself someone was upset with you, only to find out everything was fine?
Maybe you've replayed a conversation over and over, wondering if you said something wrong. Or made one small mistake and spent the rest of the day feeling terrible about yourself.
It's amazing how much we can put ourselves through just by thinking.
And the hardest part? Sometimes we know we're overthinking, but we still can't seem to stop.
When you're anxious, stressed or feeling low, your mind can make the worst possible outcome seem like the most likely one.
You can spend an entire day feeling upset about something that hasn't happened, something someone hasn't said, or something that might not even be true.
So next time your mind starts telling you a frightening story, try asking yourself: "Do I actually know this is true, or am I just afraid it might be?"
