🧠 NHS Talking Therapies are coming to your local library this November!

If you're curious about what NHS Talking Therapies can offer, who is eligible, or how to self-refer, pop into one of our informal drop-in sessions. The team will be on hand to answer questions and provide information, and can assist with the self-referral process if needed.

• Hanham Library – Monday 2 November, 10.00am-12.00pm
• Winterbourne Library – Wednesday 4 November, 10.30am-12.30pm

Thornbury Library are delighted to host an illustrated talk with SAS veteran Mark "Spash" Aston on Sat, November 7th, 2026 at 2PM.

Mark joined the Glosters as a teenager in the 60's and passed SAS selection in 1979. This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from a soldier who took part in some of the most challenging actions in the Falklands conflict. Refreshments and cake included.

The Treetop Circus was a huge hit in libraries last week! 🌲🎪

We loved having Sarah Vigars Art , Marionette Theatre and Louis Bingham Music perform in Patchway, Kingswood, Filton, Winterbourne and Staple Hill Libraries. Here's just some of the feedback we had from the shows:

🌟It was great to see the children so engaged and enthusiastic. For some, it was their first experience of a live performance.

✨ I loved the puppet show it was incredible. The craftmanship of the puppets was beautiful. The cuckoo was amazing. I liked the subtle messaging behind the show encouraging children to think about the wildlife.

This Thursday 29th October at Thornbury Library! 🥳🤩

Come and meet some PAT Dogs (and their lovely volunteers!) 🐶🐕🦴

Pets As Therapy (PAT) volunteers will be bringing their temperament-assessed dogs to Thornbury Library between 10:30am-11.30am. Children and families will have the chance to learn about the wonderful work PAT volunteers do and meet their friendly dogs.

Children must be aged 4+ and accompanied by an adult. No booking required.

African Stories with //Kabbo Hue

Thanks to everyone who attended the Evening of Stories for Black History month last Tuesday at Hanham Library, and especially thank you to //Kabbo for getting us singing and joining in with the wonderful stories.

If you missed it (or want to come again!) there are still places for the FREE event at Bradley Stoke library on the 31st of October at 11am. Book on Eventbrite or drop in, all are welcome and this is an event that can be enjoyed by all ages (please do note that under 8s must be accompanied by an adult at all times).
