It is very apparent that hundreds of mature trees along this stretch did not need to be cut down☹️
Someone should be sacked over this, why is there no accountability.

13/10/2026

There is a debate at Westminster today around 16.00 hrs about BREP.
I wonder if they will raise the shockingly bad project management by JACOBS and the initial poor planning, all councils need to have strict guidelines put in place to stop this happening, it seems to be a recurring theme across the country.

A38 NIGHT CLOSURES | 5-11 OCTOBER.
____

The A38 will be CLOSED between the Oakalls Roundabout and Slideslow Drive Roundabout for overnight BREP works from tomorrow, Monday 5th October until the 11th October.

These closures will be in place nightly between 8pm and 6am the following morning and are required to prepare for the lane changeovers onto the area of new carriageway.

23/09/2026

As an update to yesterday, last night we sent emails to the councillors responsible asking for an emergency review into the safety of BREP.

This morning a meeting took place and other councillors will be pushing to ensure any required changes are implemented along with highways.

We have also forwarded a statement on to the BBC who will be covering this sad incident tomorrow morning.

We have been banging on to the council on about the accident waiting to happen for months and years due to how poorly BREP has been managed and implemented. Delays, poor management, poor visibility, bad light systems, dangerous crossings, red light jumpers, near misses and actual accidents etc etc. Today a gent lost their life at the works at New Road junction. We have no doubt that the investigation will conclude that many of these factors played a part. Our thoughts are obviously with the family and friends of those affected, and we have emailed the council demanding an urgent review.

Bromsgrove District Council are failing, they have put too much emphasis on pointless projects in the past instead of sorting a proper local plan out for the area.

They need to act now!😡

HAGLEY TRAVELLER SITE: NOW HEADING TO A SECRETARY OF STATE APPEAL — IS THIS THE WARNING BROMSGROVE HAS BEEN IGNORING?

This is exactly the kind of situation Bromsgrove Voices has been warning about.

Bromsgrove District Council refused retrospective planning permission for a residential Traveller caravan site on land at Wassell Grove Lane, Hagley.

The proposal is for 5 Traveller pitches, including hardstanding and a 1.8m timber fence.

The Council also served an Enforcement Notice on 29 May 2026.

But that is not the end of the matter.

The applicant has appealed both the refusal of planning permission and the Enforcement Notice. The appeals will be dealt with together at a hearing before a Planning Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State.

Application: 25/00492/FUL
Appeals: APP/P1805/C/26/3378991 and APP/P1805/W/26/3378918
Hearing: 30 September 2026, 10am
Venue: Parkside, Market Street, Bromsgrove
Deadline for additional representations: 2 September 2026

Residents who previously objected should understand what is happening here.

Bromsgrove District Council has refused the development. It has taken enforcement action. Yet the final outcome can still be determined through the national appeal system.

And this raises a much bigger question for the whole of Bromsgrove.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A COUNCIL FAILS TO GET ITS LOCAL PLAN IN PLACE?

For years Bromsgrove has been left without an up-to-date Local Plan.

That failure matters.

A Local Plan is supposed to give the district a clear, evidence-based framework identifying where development should go, what infrastructure is required and which areas should be protected.

Without that strong and current planning framework, Bromsgrove is increasingly vulnerable to developers and landowners bringing forward proposals outside a properly planned strategy — and then appealing when the Council refuses them.

Wassell Grove Lane should be a warning to the entire district.

Today it is five Traveller pitches in Hagley.

Elsewhere we are seeing proposals for hundreds of houses.

Tomorrow it could be another field, another Green Belt site, another village or another major speculative housing development.

And residents need to understand something important:

A COUNCIL REFUSING AN APPLICATION DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN THE DEVELOPMENT IS DEAD.

An applicant can appeal.

The Council’s decision can then be examined by a Planning Inspector.

And the strength of the Council’s planning policies, evidence and Local Plan position can become critically important.

That is why Bromsgrove Voices has repeatedly questioned how Bromsgrove District Council allowed the district to reach this position without an up-to-date Local Plan.

This isn’t simply an administrative delay buried somewhere in the Council offices.

Planning has real consequences for real communities.

If Bromsgrove cannot demonstrate a robust, up-to-date strategy for development, the danger is that increasingly important decisions about the future of our district are fought application by application and appeal by appeal, rather than being determined through a Local Plan shaped with our communities.

And every speculative developer in Bromsgrove will be watching what happens.

NOW WE WAIT FOR THE INSPECTOR’S DECISION.

The Hagley appeal hearing will take place on 30 September 2026.

Let’s see whether Bromsgrove District Council’s refusal and enforcement action ultimately stand.

Because if decisions like this start being overturned, the concern will go far beyond one site in Hagley.

The floodgates could open for further speculative applications across Bromsgrove — including developments which the District Council itself has already refused.

That is why getting Bromsgrove’s Local Plan right — and getting it in place — matters so much.

This district cannot continue planning its future through individual speculative applications and appeals.

Residents deserve to know:

Why has the Local Plan taken so long?

Who is accountable for that failure?

How exposed is Bromsgrove to speculative development because of it?

And what is BDC doing NOW to protect communities while the district remains in this vulnerable planning position?

For residents wishing to make additional representations on the Wassell Grove Lane appeal, the Council’s letter confirms that the deadline is 2 September 2026. Previous representations have already been forwarded to the Planning Inspectorate and will be considered by the Inspector.

Bromsgrove Voices will be watching this appeal closely.

Because this is about more than one planning application.

It is about who gets to shape the future of Bromsgrove — our communities through a properly prepared Local Plan, or speculative development fought one appeal at a time.

GET THE LOCAL PLAN DONE.
PROTECT OUR COMMUNITIES.
PLAN BROMSGROVE PROPERLY.
