π§βπ NEW RECRUIT π§βπ
Please join us in giving an absolute mountain of applause to Firefighter Laura Sant, who has officially passed her intensive Approved to Ride (ATR) course! ππ¨
Joining Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service as a trainee was step one, but getting to this point demands an entirely new level of grit, sweat, and determination. Over the last few weeks of rigorous assessments, Laura has thrown herself into mastering the core foundations of operational firefighting, along with months of prior learning and training at Callington Callington Community Fire Station.
Laura has successfully smashed through every phase of the ATR curriculum, including:
Pumps & Water Management: Perfecting hose running, knot tying, and hauling equipment aloft, as well as mastering how to pump from pressure-fed supplies and open water.
Ladders & Working at Height: Executing flawless commands under immense physical pressure.
Road Traffic Collisions (RTC): Gaining the vital operational skills required to respond safely and efficiently to complex roadside rescues.
What does this mean for Laura?
She is officially no longer just a traineeβshe has officially stepped up to become a Development Firefighter!
The very next time the pagers go off and the station doors roll open, Laura won't be watching from the sidelines. She will be fully geared up, sitting in the back of the appliance, and heading out on the run alongside her crew to serve and protect our local community.
It takes an incredible amount of personal sacrifice, late nights, and physical endurance to wear the pager. Laura, your commitment to the safety of Cornwall is inspiring, and we are incredibly proud to have you on our team.
Enjoy your well-deserved achievement, stay safe out there, and welcome to the crew! ππ₯
Letβs fill the comments sections with some massive Cornwall love for Laura! π
