Rebuilding confidence and looking forward to the future!

After being out of work for over five years, Kerry was referred to our WIN Programme, where she began working with her Wellbeing Advisor, Julia.

Through personalised support, personal development workshops and new learning opportunities, Kerry has achieved her WorldHost certificate and First Aid qualification, while rebuilding her confidence and recognising her own strengths.

Kerry also enjoys volunteering and giving back to others, and feels more positive and excited about the future.

💙 A little perseverance can go a long way!

After 23 years with the same employer, Lynette found herself facing the challenge of finding a new job. She came to Routes to Work South looking for a bit of help with her CV, job applications and interview skills, but also hoping to rebuild her confidence along the way.

With encouragement and support from her adviser Alison, Lynette kept going, even when things didn’t quite work out at interview. Together, they worked on applications, practiced interview techniques, was offered vouchers to buy interview clothes and focused on the positives, helping Lynette feel and look the part.

And we’re delighted to share that her hard work has paid off! 🎉 Lynette was successful at interview for a clerical role that suited her committments!

She’s now looking forward to starting her new job and providing for herself and her daughter.

A huge well done to Lynette! Her journey is a lovely reminder that sometimes, all it takes is a little support, encouragement and belief in yourself to help open the door to a new opportunity. 💙

Financial pressures can affect different aspects of family life, including household costs, food, heating and access to activities and opportunities.

As part of Challenge Poverty Week 2026, we’re working with the Scottish Pantry Network to help connect people with local food support, alongside the employability support available through our service.

Supporting parents and carers towards employment, while helping connect families with wider sources of practical support, can contribute to a joined-up approach to tackling child poverty.
