It’s Shwmae Su’mae Day – a great time to share a little Welsh! Start by saying hello with a ‘Shwmae!’, just like our Conversation Group regulars (pictured), and enjoy the opportunity to have fun and share the language – in the shop, at work, or with friends.

If you’re a Welsh learner, our Welsh Conversation Groups are a great way to take this idea further and boost your confidence by practicing with others in a friendly setting.

This week we’re joining public libraries across Wales to celebrate a National Reading Week, with a busy programme of events, activities and reading initiatives designed to inspire people of all ages to discover the joy and benefits of reading.

It’s the perfect week to join a book club, bring the children to a rhyme time session, discover a new author or just take time out to lose yourself in a story.

This year’s Reading Week forms part of the wider UK National Year of Reading 2026, a nationwide celebration encouraging people of all ages to develop a love of reading and to recognise the positive impact that reading can have on education, well-being, creativity and lifelong learning.

The campaign reimagines what reading means today and encourages everyone to Ymgolli / Go all In, so “if you’re into it, read into it.” Reading is encouraged in all its forms – with books, e-books, audiobooks, storytelling and much more.
