Over the weekend of the 16th and 17th of May, 22 cadets - including 1 from Bristol & Gloucestershire Wing and 6 from West Mercian Wing - successfully completed their Bronze qualifier or Silver practice Duke of Edinburghβs Award expeditions in the Brecon Beacons.
Working as teams, the cadets navigated themselves from Abergavenny to Crickhowell and back. They utilised skills in map-reading, self-sufficiency and camp cooking across the weekend, demonstrating core values of teamwork, leadership and perseverance. A fantastic achievement by all involved - well done to all cadets and staff who supported a successful and rewarding weekend.

SPORTS SEASON FINISHES STRONG
160 troops across 18 squadrons made their way to Leckwith Stadium in Cardiff for the final event in this years sports calendar.
It was an amazing day made possible by the amazing support of Staff and Cadets from around the Wing. Cadets competed in track and field events with a number of impressive times and distances being set.
Congratulations to 1148 (Penarth) Squadron, the overall competition winners. The sports league has been updated with a very close margin between 1st & 2nd place. We look forward to seeing who is triumphant following the Regional event at the end of of June.

LATEST RESULTS
The latest results from some of the Leagues currently running in No 1 Welsh Wing.
The Cadet Air Rifle League (CARL) recently launched and is open to all cadets above Bronze Shot in the Wing. Developed to select Wing Teams for National Competitions ask your Sqn Staff for details on how to compete.
The Wing DofE League is wide open with many yet still to complete this year's expeditions. Make sure you're registered to push your Sqn to the top.
The grand Finale of the Sports Calendar is nearly upon us with the Inter Squadron Athletics. With everything still to play for can 2077 continue their reign as Top Sports Sqn for another year, or will they be beaten at the final hurdle.

ADVENTURE AWAITS!!!
The Wing Adventure Training Team is pleased to announce 2 AT Weekends planned for this Summer. An exciting opportunity for those who have not done AT before to begin their journey with Trekking, Rock Climbing and Mountain Biking delivered by our experienced instructors.
Also available to older Cadets will be the Hill Skills course. A chance to register with Mountain Training and start your journey towards Outdoor Qualifications.

READY FOR ROSE|DRAGON
Ahead of this Summers multi-activity camp, this past weekend 100 Cadets from 5 Wings in Wales & West Region progressed through the Military Training Syllabus.
- 36 Cadets and 2 Staff Completed L98 Initial Weapons Training.
- 7 Cadets gained their Blue Shot Badge on the DCCT with 14 passing Bronze on the Barrack Range.
- 8 managed to adapt and overcome the Welsh weather to advance to Silver Shot on the long range.
- 36 completed Blue Fieldcraft learning the basics of surviving in the field.
- 5 Staff completed FTI(R)
An amazing effort by all cadets made possible by the dedicated staff team. Details and sign up for the next Military Skills weekend are available on Cadet Portal along with Rose|Dragon.
Cadets are taught weapon handling skills as part of a structured programme of supervised training that emphasises safe and responsible use.
