Together with Gloucester City Council, as joint shareholders of Gloucestershire Airport, we are pleased to confirm that a preferred bidder has been selected for the purchase of the airport.

The company has committed to maintaining Gloucestershire Airport as a thriving centre for aviation and supporting the many businesses based across the 350-acre site.

Councillor Rowena Hay, leader of Cheltenham Borough Council, said: “This is excellent news for Gloucestershire and an important step towards securing the airport’s long-term future. The selection of a preferred bidder committed to maintaining an operational airport, provides a strong basis for protecting this important regional asset.”

Andy Hearne, director of place, assets and regeneration at Gloucester City Council, said: “The airport is home to many businesses and plays an important role in the area’s economy. We are pleased to have reached this significant stage in the process and to see a commitment to supporting the businesses based at the site and its continued operation as an airport.”

The process will now move into a period of due diligence. During this stage, all parties are subject to legal and commercial confidentiality requirements, which means that no further details about the preferred bidder or the proposed transaction can be released at this time.

Your views shaping sculpture trail on Honeybourne Line ✨

Many of you have had your say on how a new sculptural series should tell Cheltenham’s story along the Honeybourne Line.

More than 100 ideas have been submitted as part of the initiative to brighten up the popular walkway – and children from Gloucester Road Primary School have also got involved. 🙌

Rob and Kim from Neith Art & Sculpture have been listening carefully with the help of their interactive design engine which is aimed at stimulating ideas.

The project, called A Time, A Place, will celebrate the town's history, communities and natural environment through the installation of six sculptural stations and is certainly one to look out for when it's installed next spring. 🔜

The Mayor of Cheltenham has got behind a charity fundraiser to help raise money for a new inclusive playground!

From singing and dancing to taking an adapted trike ride and even a go on the swing, Cllr Martin Horwood joined families at Elmbridge Court for a day of fundraising fun, hosted in partnership with Get Ahead Physiotherapy.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of everyone involved, the event, which involved swinging for 12 hours, raised just under £4,000 towards a new fully inclusive playground at Burrow’s Field. The project will replace the current play area with accessible equipment and sensory play features, creating a space that can be enjoyed by children of all abilities. 🛝

We’re continuing to support Keep Britain Tidy's fly-tipping fortnight campaign by exposing rogue traders and their practice.

Thousands of fly-tippers across the country are posing as legitimate businesses – only for rubbish to end up fly-tipped.

Follow these top tips when considering using a service to take away household materials:

✅ Ask for a waste carrier licence.
✅ Check the number on the Environment Agency register.
✅ Get a receipt.

Let’s stamp out fly-tipping. For more information visit Gloucestershire recycles website and search fly-tipping.

More local influence over transport, skills, homes and investment.
That is what devolution could mean for Gloucestershire.

Local government reorganisation may be paused, but devolution ambitions are not. Leaders are asking the Government for a clear route forward.

Read the letter sent by council leaders in Gloucestershire to the Government, requesting it gives the county a clear route towards a devolution agreement with the West of England. The letter can be found by visiting 'Future Gloucestershire: Devolution and Local Government Reorganisation in Gloucestershire'.

What a fantastic year for Cheltenham's allotments 🌱

It was great to see the Allotment Awards return this year, recognising the fantastic work taking place across our allotment sites.

After visiting sites across the town during July's heatwave, our judges had the tough job of choosing this year's winners.

From first-time plot holders to experienced growers, and from community spaces to wildlife-friendly plots, the passion and effort behind each plot was clear to see.

Winners were celebrated at a special awards evening attended by the The Mayor of Cheltenham.

Congratulations to everyone recognised this year, and thank you to all our allotment holders and volunteers for everything you do 🌻
