Dysgwch sut oedd y modrwyau’n cael eu ‘gwehyddu’ gyda’i gilydd, a’r offer a’r technegau traddodiadol oedd eu hangen i greu’r dillad amddiffynnol hyn a wisgwyd gan y rhai oedd yn ddigon dewr i gamu ar faes y gad yn yr Oesoedd Canol.

Bydd ein harbenigwr preswyl wrth law yn sgwrsio’n anffurfiol ac yn arddangos drwy’r dydd. Bydd arfwisgoedd maille o wahanol gyfnodau hanesyddol hefyd yn cael eu harddangos a chewch gyfle i’w gwisgo.

This Summer learn how traditional maille was made at Chepstow Castle.

Discover how the rings were ‘woven’ together, and see the traditional tools and techniques needed to create these protective garments worn by those brave enough to step onto the battlefield in the Middle Ages.

Our resident expert will be on-hand to give informal talks and demonstrations throughout the day. Replicas of mail from different historical periods will also be on show for you to try on.

Adeiladwyd rhwng 1272-1282, ac fe'i defnyddiwyd i storio gwin a chwrw.
Cafodd casgenni enfawr 32 galwyn eu winsio i fyny o'r afon isod gan ddefnyddio system pwli wedi'i chlymu i gylch haearn enfawr yn y llawr.

Did you know that when temperatures rise outside, Chepstow castles medieval cellar stays a cool 18c.
Built between 1272-1282, it was used to store wine and ale.
Huge 32-gallon barrels were winched up from the river below using a pulley system secured to a giant iron ring in the floor.

Participants will be taught how to fold and bind a basic book using traditional and contemporary tools, and create an A5 paperback notebook to take home!

The session will last 60-90 minutes, with all tools and materials provided. No experience necessary.
