Thank you to Wendy Sings for entertaining us at our Coffee Morning at the Town Hall. As well as beautiful music from the 50s and 60s, we also enjoyed some spooky cake! Thank you to the volunteers who came along and helped out. We hope to see our guests again in November.

Everyone is welcome to celebrate and learn about Diwali thanks to this event in Chesham market, being put on by local members of the community on Saturday 31st October.
There will be fun activities and authentic Indian food for everyone to enjoy.

Diwali is also known as the Festival of Lights and is celebrated by Hindu, Jain and Sikh communities (the celebration being known as Bandi Chhorr Diwas for the latter) all around the world.

Between the 6th and 10th November, the clocktower in Market Square will be shimmering at night with a beautiful curtain of lights as part of our community celebration. The word Diwali comes from a Sanskrit word meaning ‘row of lighted lamps’. It is a festival of new beginnings, celebrating the triumph of good over evil, and light over darkness. It marks the Hindu New Year and a time to clear away the old and welcome fresh hopes.

We would like to thank Expert Independent Financial Planning Ltd for sponsoring the lights for Diwali. We hope that everyone will enjoy the beautiful light display and we would like to wish a Happy Diwali to all who celebrate.
