Darker nights are arriving!

As the evenings get darker, take extra care when parking your vehicle.
Try to:
🚗 Park in well-lit areas
🔒 Lock doors and windows
🎥 Use secure car parks where possible
📦 Remove all valuables

Vehicle thieves look for easy opportunities. Make your vehicle a less attractive target.

We have arrested a boy on in connection to a report of homophobic abuse in Chichester city centre.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was verbally abused by a group of young men riding bicycles in Little London car park at about 6pm on 13 October.

Officers visited the victim in a venue nearby to provide reassurance and to take a statement. Meanwhile a 16-year-old boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was arrested on suspicion of using threatening or abusive behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, and with shop theft.

He was issued with a Community Protection Warning and has been bailed, pending further enquiries.

Chichester Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector Dave Lyons said: “This was a distressing incident for the victim and we understand the concern it has caused for the wider community.

“Hate has no place in our communities. We understand that reporting it can sometime be difficult, but we continue to encourage anyone impacted by hate crimes to report them to Suss*x Police. We are continuing to work with partner agencies in Chichester to further support victims of crime.”

Beware of scam calls from fraudsters falsely claiming to be from the "Suss*x Police Cyber Crime Unit" ⚠️

On Saturday (10 October), we became aware of scammers targeting members of the public and requesting personal information, including passwords and other sensitive details.

It has been reported that the caller ID may appear to show a legitimate police phone number, however, these calls are being made from alternative sources.

Remember 👉 Suss*x Police will never ask for your passwords, bank details, PIN numbers or other sensitive financial information over the phone.

These fraudsters may change the name of the police unit they claim to be from, so remain vigilant.

We would like to reassure the public that our phone lines are operating as normal.

If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from Suss*x Police, let us know. You can do this by filling an online reporting form. Alternatively, you can contact us by calling 101.
