Outreach in Action – South Manchester

Stephanie and James are out on outreach right now, they started in Wythenshawe at 11:30pm, before continuing their work around Manchester Airport and surrounding areas of South Manchester.

The team will be carrying out welfare checks, offering support to those who may need it, and making referrals where required to help ensure people can access the right services.
We’re committed to reaching those who need support, checking on people’s wellbeing and making a positive difference in our local communities.

TUESDAY 27th October, Homeless Outreach Across South Manchester – Early Start.

Stephanie and James, were out on the streets from 6am this morning, carrying out homeless outreach across South Manchester.
Starting in Chorlton at 6am, they then headed to Manchester Airport, before continuing their outreach across Wythenshawe, Northenden, Didsbury and Withington.
Their morning was dedicated to reaching out to people experiencing homelessness, offering support, or referrals where required.
Homelessness doesn’t take a day off, and neither does the need for kindness, understanding and support. Together, we can make a difference one person, one conversation and one act of kindness at a time. 💚

Today was a great opportunity to bring people together for conversation and shared learning as part of Real Change MCR.
We started the day with a Real Change MCR Funding Panel meeting, followed by lunch and a workshop with frontline workers from Real Change MCR partner organisations who are eligible to apply to the fund.
It was fantastic to create space for open conversations, share experiences and explore how the fund can continue to support work making a real difference to people experiencing homelessness across Manchester.
A big thank you to Booth Centre for hosting us, and to Val from the Manchester Homelessness Partnership for facilitating the event and bringing everyone together.

Working together, sharing knowledge and listening to frontline experiences are all vital to creating real change.

FRIDAY 16th OCTOBER:

Early morning outreach across South Manchester:

This morning, Stephanie and James from the Reach Out to the Community outreach team were out on the streets from 6am, starting at Manchester Airport and continuing their outreach across South Manchester.
Homeless outreach isn’t always straightforward. In suburban areas, people sleeping rough can be incredibly difficult to locate. Some of the places we need to check are surprisingly rural, including woodland areas where people may be sheltering in tents, hidden away from public view.
It takes time, persistence and a commitment to keep looking. Behind every search is a person who may be experiencing homelessness, isolation and vulnerability and who deserves to be seen, heard and supported.
Stephanie and James are out there doing just that: checking the less obvious places, covering the ground and making sure people who might otherwise go unnoticed aren’t forgotten.

Homelessness isn’t always visible, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

A huge thank you toThe Chaplaincy Manchester Airport for inviting us to speak at the IACAC 2026 Conference this afternoon.
It was a real pleasure to share more about Reach Out to the Community, the work we do and the valuable partnership working with our wonderful partners at Manchester Airport.
We’re proud of the relationships we’ve built and the difference we can make by working together to support people in our community.
Thank you for the warm welcome, the opportunity to share our work, and the lovely gift 🐝 such a thoughtful gesture.
