UK Friends of Standing Together

🟣On the 24th of February, we proudly launched Parliamentary Friends of Standing Together, a platform for MPs, MSPs, MSs, and peers to publicly support Standing Together’s work

🟣The six founding members were Clive Lewis MP (Labour, Norwich South), James Naish MP (Labour, Rushcliffe); Simon Opher MP (Labour, Stroud); Alex Sobel MP (Labour & Cooperative, Leeds Central and Headingley); Humza Yousaf MSP (Scottish National Party, Glasgow Po***ck); and Nadia Whittome MP (Labour, Nottingham East).

🟣Since then, Dr. Ellie Chowns MP (Green, North Herefordshire) and Adrian Ramsay (Green, Waveney Valley) have also joined to help support Standing Together’s mission for peace, justice, and equality

🟣By doing this, British politicians are best abled to support external pressure campaigns that empower Standing Together’s mission in Israel and Palestine

Will you ask your MP to become a Parliamentary Friend of Standing Together? MPs who sign up will receive regular briefings from Standing Together activists on the ground.

A combination of settler and military violent pressure is forcing more Palestinians off their land in the West Bank. Standing Together activists’ Protective Presence disrupts those assaults and we stand in solidarity with them.

Please join us to hear the personal stories of three Cambridge residents who have lived and worked in Israel and Palestine.

-Jalal Hajjaj, born in Gaza, will talk about his family’s life in Gaza amid genocide, the destruction of Gaza and displacement of the Palestinians.

-Anat Messing will talk about Gaza Support Network, a grassroots, people-to-people initiative, responding directly to the urgent humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

-Kirstylee Blacka, an emergency trauma nurse who worked with the UN in Gaza in 2025, will talk about the impact of the war on Gaza’s health service.

🟣 A week ahead of our monthly vigil, we don’t know whether the regional war will resume or the ceasefires will hold.

🟣We do know that Standing Together will continue to protest against endless war, against the occupation and settlement violence, and for peace as the only path to security. Let’s amplify their voice.

🟣 Please join us for a solidarity vigil commemorating the victims across the region and demanding action to bring about peace and equality.

Next week, UK Friends of Standing Together branches across the UK are hosting and cosponsoring screenings of the 21st annual Joint Memorial Day Ceremony in Jerusalem.

The Joint Memorial Day is organised by Families Forum, a binational organisation of Palestinians and Israelis who have lost loved ones to violence, and Combatants For Peace (), an organisation bringing together ex-combatants from Palestine and Israel to fight for peace and equality.

On the eve of Yom Ha’Zikaron, the Israeli state’s official memorial event, this ceremony intends to provide you an alternative narrative - one that allows people from both national communities to mourn those they have lost, to grieve together, and to discuss how to build a shared and equal future.

The war that Israel and the US launched against Iran has escalated into a deadly, destructive, dangerous war in Lebanon, the Gulf and Iraq, in which citizens are paying the price. Standing Together has been protesting the "forever war" to which Netanyahu has condemned everyone in Israel and beyond, while also installing bomb shelters in Bedouin communities that don't have one and continuing the protective presence where possible as settlers conduct pogroms, with military support, in Palestinian communities in the West Bank. Aid to the half of Gaza which Israeli troops aren't occupying has been severely restricted since the war on Iran began and attacks on Gazans continue. Only peace can bring security and freedom to all peoples of the region.
