Has anyone noticed mysterious holes appearing at the Rec 🫣?

Experts are divided. Some say it’s aliens, 👽 some say it’s a highly organised family of moles building a new den 🪏

Whatever is happening could be revealed very soon … 😆

Final chance to comment on the Braintree District Local Plan - Regulation 19 Consultation:
BDC’s Local Plan consultation is open until 5pm on 6 November. The Plan will shape development across the District up to 2043. To help you take part, we’ve published a guide on our website explaining what the consultation is about, what is proposed for Coggeshall and how to frame your comments so they can be considered by the Planning Inspector.
Read our Guide and submit your comments before 5pm on 6 November: https://www.coggeshall-pc.gov.uk/2026/10/how-to-respond-to-the-braintree-district-council-local-plan-consultation/

⏰ UPDATE ⏰
The time is now correct on the Clock Tower! We hope you weren’t confused by the bell ringing randomly for a while at lunchtime - the clock mechanism is taken forward 11 hours to change the time back to GMT, as the time should never be moved backwards. Hence the bell ringing oddly for a few minutes. You can now, once again, set your watches by it (well, before it loses a couple of minutes again! 😆) 😁

Original post:
⏰ We know you’re all eagle-eyed and eared in Coggeshall, so just to let you know that we will be putting the time right on the Clock Tower tomorrow (Monday) around lunchtime, following the change back to GMT today ⏰
Thank you for your patience in the meantime 😊

You said, we did! …
The Coggeshall Heritage Trail leaflet is now available on our website at www.coggeshall-pc.gov.uk. You can find it on the main top menu as in the picture below. It’s not perfect - the text is a bit small and the photos not absolutely clear, but we are now working on a bespoke digital version to correct that. In the meantime, please have a peruse! Hard copies now also available at Karen Gets Crafty, Enchanted, the White Hart and the Library, as well as the Village Hall, Museum and Paycockes. If any other shops or businesses would like to have some to give out, let us know! 🗺️
