๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŽ† Bonfire Night Safety Reminder ๐ŸŽ†๐Ÿ”ฅ
Remember, remember the 5th of November... gunpowder, treason, and anti-social behaviour? Perhaps not.

Letโ€™s make sure this yearโ€™s celebrations are safe and respectful for everyone in Colne and West Craven.

๐Ÿ’ฅ Fireworks can be funโ€”but they can also be distressing and dangerous if misused. Anti-social behaviour is BANG out of order, and itโ€™s not what Bonfire Night is about.

If you witness anti-social behaviour:
๐Ÿ“ž Call 101 for non-emergencies
๐Ÿ“ž Call 999 in an emergency
๐Ÿ“ข Or report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111

๐Ÿšจ Emergency services will be extremely busy, so please use the most appropriate contact method and help keep lines free for those who need urgent help.

๐ŸŽ‡ Be responsible. Be respectful. Be safe.

Afternoon all,

Many of you will have seen our appeals for missing Zara over the last few days and we have a sad update to bring you today.

Shortly before 11.30am, our officers searching for Zara found the body of a woman off Henthorn Road, Clitheroe. The body has now been formally identified as Zara. Her death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be passed to the coroner in due course.

Zaraโ€™s family have been informed and are being supported. Our thoughts are with them at this time.

This obviously isnโ€™t the news we wanted to bring you, but we know a lot of you will have seen the appeals over the last few days and have been asking about Zara, so it was important for us to let you know. To those of you who shared our appeals, called with information or shared messages of good will โ€“ thank you. Your help, as always, is much appreciated.

Nobody should face injury for simply doing their job, and police officers should not be assaulted or injured while working to keep our communities safe.

Earlier in October, officers from the Prosper Partnership Policing Team spotted what appeared to be a drug deal taking place on James Nelson Way, Nelson. As PC Rick Wilson attempted to arrest the driver of a Renault Megane, the suspect allegedly reversed the vehicle in an effort to escape.

PC Wilson was dragged by the car and thrown into the road, suffering injuries to his knee, leg, hand, forearm and shoulder. Despite this, he and colleague PC Aimee Jarrett quickly got back into their police vehicle and followed the car, which had crashed into railings before fleeing the scene.

The vehicle was located in a nearby cul-de-sac, where officers successfully blocked it in and arrested a 25-year-old man from Colne. A quantity of suspected co***ne was also found inside the vehicle.

The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted wounding and possession of Class A drugs. He has since been interviewed and released under investigation while enquiries continue.

PC Wilson's determination and commitment to protecting the public is clear. Despite sustaining multiple injuries, he was back on duty the very next day.

Police officers put themselves in harm's way to protect our communities. Violence against emergency workers is never acceptable, and no officer should be injured for doing their job.

๐Ÿง™โ€โ™€๏ธ The witches are warming up their broomsticks because Halloween is coming!

We want everyone to have a frightfully fun timeโ€ฆ.but remember, while Halloween is a treat for many, it's not everyone's cup of witches' brew, so let's make sure we keep the spooky season fun and respectful for all. ๐Ÿฌ

๐Ÿก If a house isn't decorated or doesn't look like it's taking part, skip it and head for one that is.

๐ŸŽญ What feels like a harmless prank to one person can be upsetting to another. Remember kindness. Be respectful and considerate.

๐Ÿš” You'll see extra patrols in the run-up to Halloween and Bonfire Night to help keep you safe.

๐Ÿค We're teaming up with partner agencies to make sure everyone can enjoy the season safely.

๐Ÿ“ž Halloween and Bonfire Night are busy periods for emergency services. Please help keep emergency lines free for those who need them most and use the most appropriate way to get in touch.

๐Ÿ‘น And parentsโ€ฆ..Do you know where your little monsters are, who they're with, and what mischief they might be getting up to?

Anti-social behaviour is no treat and can have a real impact on local communities. Let's all do our bit to keep Halloween fun and full of happy memories.

If you'd prefer not to receive trick-or-treaters this year, you can download and display a "No Trick or Treat" poster in your window. Get it from our website here ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://orlo.uk/KtO0A

๐ŸŽƒ Stay spooky, be respectful, and have a fa-boo-lous Halloween! ๐Ÿฌ

We are appealing for witnesses and footage after a man was left with serious injuries following a road traffic collision on Skipton Road, Colne.

Our officers were called to the Norfolk Street junction of Skipton Road, Colne at 4pm on Friday 16th October to reports a small grey Ford Transit Connect had been involved in a collision with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a man in his 40s was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he remains at this time.

The driver of the Ford Transit Connect remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

Patrick Wiper, 29, of Patten Street, Colne has since been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

He has been bailed to appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court on 11th November 2026.

If you witnessed this collision, have any information, or any CCTV/dashcam footage that could assist us in our enquiries, please contact us on 101 quoting log 969 of 16th October or email the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at [email protected]

18/10/2026

While conducting proactive patrols in the Colne area, PC 2155 and PC 3920 from Team 4 Immediate Response identified a vehicle that attracted their attention. Following initial checks, officers discovered the vehicle was being driven without a valid MOT.

The vehicle was subsequently stopped near Vivary Way, where officers spoke with the driver. Further enquiries revealed that the driver did not hold valid insurance for the vehicle and was unable to produce a driving license or provide the necessary details at the roadside.

As a result, the vehicle was seized under Section 165A of the Road Traffic Act, preventing it from remaining on the road unlawfully. It will now remain impounded until the driver can provide evidence of a valid driving license and insurance.

This stop highlights the importance of proactive patrol work in identifying uninsured drivers and removing non-compliant vehicles from the road, helping to keep Lancashire's roads safer for everyone ๐Ÿš”

Weโ€™ve served a closure notice on Sandy Lane Mini Market in Barnoldswick, following years of being linked to ongoing criminality.

The shop on Albert Road was visited in September by officers from our Prosper Partnership Team and partners from Lancashire County Council Trading Standards, who found more than 600 packets of illegal to***co and ci******es in a secret compartment โ€“ which you can see on the video below ๐Ÿ‘‡

The shop had also failed numerous failed inspections and test purchases, and on Wednesday a closure order was granted at Burnley Magistrates Court, meaning it wonโ€™t be able to open for three months (the cap for initial closure orders under UK law).

We know this kind of criminality has an impact on our communities and we thank you for sharing your concerns with us โ€“ they are listened to and acted upon.
