Finally we can post this information after a long two years of collaboration!!!

Last week members of the team at The VC Hub travelled down to Cardiff for the official launch of The Veterans Album called “A Space in the Woods” which is an album of original songs written by Veterans and veteran family members from around Wales and produced at several professional recording studios in the UK.

The project was a really exciting opportunity to collaborate with veterans groups from North, West Wales and South Wales and to explore the craft of songwriting and spoken word whilst working with industry professionals focusing on issues that matter to the writers.

The project is the brainchild of Karin Diamond at Re-Live who specialise in life story work in a number of key areas including the Veteran and non veteran communities. Massive thank you to Karin and the team.

The album is available for download on Spotify with the proceeds supporting future opportunities.

The event was supported by ITV Wales, BBC 5 Live and BBC Radio Wales Breakfast programme too.

As The VC Hub and Caffinaafi music is a key element of what we do whether that is our open mic sessions on the first Sunday of each month or our Friday night sessions called Monkey Jam where we give up the space for a younger crowd of local musicians to run a jamming night.

As we move forward with the build up towards the year end, we remain focused on the development of The Therapy Den in Queensferry, Deeside which we hope to open in the late spring of 2027 where we might be brave enough to perform some of the music we wrote in our little wooded venue!! Our very own ‘Space in The Woods’.

The next veterans regroup room will be on the 29th of October 6pm till 8pm.

This week’s Veteran Drop-in features artist and veteran Angie McCormick. She will be giving a brief presentation about her arts practice, then showing some ‘mock-ups’ she’s worked on in response to the DPM theme for painting the exterior of the Therapy Den Cabin at Queensferry Institute. There’ll be space for discussion, and all being well, we can make a decision about the final design/treatment.

The veterans’ Regroup room is for veterans with or without a partner if you would like any further information please contact via email [email protected] or Call 07359 766063
