The People’s Emergency Briefing – Fact or Propaganda?
A “short film” is being shown in village halls across the country. It’s not available online. We went, we watched, we left.
Seemed to us a one-sided scare film using familiar faces to push Net Zero and left-wing candidates. Trump is called “Trumpelrupskin” and “tangerine man”. Anyone who says “drill baby drill” is dismissed as a “loser with the loudest voice”. That is political point-scoring, not a briefing.
Whaley Bridge Dam
The film says the RAF had to drop concrete to stop a collapse after torrential rain in 2019. It leaves out the official finding: poor original design, intermittent maintenance and heavy rainfall all contributed. Locals say plants had been growing out of large cracks for years.
China’s energy
The film claims 50% of China’s energy now comes from renewables. The actual share of electricity generation from renewables in 2024 was around 34%. China still has nearly 1,200 operational coal-fired power stations. Britain has none. They finished by reading a statement supporting the film from the local Liberal Democrat MP.
People deserve the full picture, not selective facts pushed through the back door in community halls.
The climate emergency narrative is already fraying. A recent Fox Business segment highlighted the UN withdrawing its worst-case climate conclusion, the extreme projections that underpinned years of alarm. The most catastrophic scenarios have been quietly dropped. That is not a minor technical adjustment. It is an admission that the worst claims used to justify Net Zero were over-stated.
If the film comes to your village, go to the discussion and point out what it leaves out.
